Reset password and username

I'd like to login using the NextStation UI, but don't have the UID or password.  I don't know Unix or how to use NetInfoManager to delete the password for user "me" and then log into the "me" account without a password and then set my own password -- as the user did in this post: http://www.nextcomputers.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=14003

I've read these posts, and was able to reset the password, but don't know what to do next.

Thanks.  This works, but once the password is reset, I don't know how to do anything else in Unix.  At the user interface prompt, I don't know what username to enter  --> I also need to reset or create a username, which I don't know how to do.  Any suggestions?

In this case the login name is "root" and the new password you chose when you reset it.
