I have a Powerbook G4 with: 17" Display, 1.0 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 60 GB HDD and US-English keyboard. The battery gets 45 minutes between charges. The power cord works, but the plug into the computer has cracks. Both the battery and power cord are easily replaceable. Other World Computing has replacement solutions. With a new battery, it gets about 2.5 hours between charges. Mac OS X 10.5.8 is installed on the HDD. The display is as bright as when it was new. Included is all the original packaging and the Mac OS X Jaguar DVD.
I have used this powerbook from 2003 to 2007 as my primary computer. Since 2007, I have used it sporadically. It is in good condition for its age with some of the usuals bumps and bruises from normal use.
I have tried several times to sell this laptop on eBay, but have only had sham bidders. I am willing to give it away to someone who will want to use it and is not a scam artist. The only catch is I live in Ilmenau, Germany. Its too nice of a system to just throw away, so I am assuming there is someone out there looking for a good, solid legacy powerbook. I would prefer pick up, or reimbursement for the shipping costs.
Thanks,
Brian Moore
Edit: at least it's not as large as Helf's Onyx 2. Shipping to the states would be a couple hundred, so about the same amount as what it's worth. Shipping within Europe would probably be about 30 Euros. This is just based on personal experience, I have not calculated the exact rate.
I am interested, but shipping to states would probably make this a no-go.
Just not my week.
check PM
I'm sending the Powerbook to slomacuser where it will be put to good use.
Thanks,
Brian
