Auction just ended at 844,29 € or at the current exchange rate, $1.178,52. I love NeXT as much as the next fan boy, but that seems a bit excessive for an old accelerator, never mind that it's rarer than Sasquatch. Somebody's got deep pockets, or maybe a hedge fund manager is speculating in rare tech hardware.
I'm knocked over ! Never dreamed of getting that much
Congrats on the auction, and enjoy spending the money!!
Well maybe Next time? GoOoD luck to who got it.
Wow. Sam should get back into the business of making those again at that price.

From my point of view, I myself, if their was say a 68060 version made, I would pay $1000 for one. Heck, add up what I have spent for NeXTdimension Cube and accessories and another $1000 is no biggee. I look at it like a NeXTdimension board, awesome add-on, really makes the Cube useful even in today's environment.
We should make a Poll. How many Cube owners would pay X amount for a accellerator for their systems. I would even do a 68040 but why could one not do a 68060 without too many mods to that current design??
tj
**EDIT** I made a poll. See this thread.

Second chance for my Pyro.
The highest bidder realized afterwards that he can't afford it.

So then what the hell was his point in bidding? >_>
I guess his pockets weren't so deep after all. That's why I quit trying to sell stuff on eBay. It was way more headaches than it was worth. Especially the con artists who would bid up my things and then try to get me to ship to them with out receiving payment.
What a crap, hope it does not happen to me got auction on ebay now.

The two most common scams I have had were, they would contact me and ask me to send the item to an 'escrow' service of their choosing. Then the 'escrow' service would supposedly collect payment and complete the transaction. Later on, some of the more technically savvy scammers would send me fake PayPal notices to make me think that payment had been received. I never fell for any of them, but I'm sure a lot of people do. I know, it sucks.
on the other hand,
i stopped buying on ebay (exept from some of my prefered and well known sellers)
i paid the seller always correct, immediately after receiving the bill
but.......
- it happens i received not a thing, and emails or messages weren't answered at all, the seller has my money and i have nothing
- i received the items, broken, i always demand to ship the items with care, sufficient protected (and paid extra for it), but some of my last items arrived with no protection at all, the ebay claims... a joke
- some of the sellers doesn't know the by paypal international offered options ( a.o. confirmed address)
