Hi, i'm about to install OPENSTEP 4.2 on a whitebox, which has a network card (3com card) which is supported by openstep. My question is, how would I connect it like the other devices on my network (windows pcs, ubuntu PC etc.)? All the info i've seen seems to refer to netinfo, which I dont think I want to use (could be wrong here). I know my 3com card supports 'regular' networking so to speak, over tcp/ip. All the computers are wired and connect to a router. All I want my OPENSTEP box to do really is to browse the internet the same was as my other pcs, i.e. through the router. How would I go about this, or will OPENSTEP auto-configure it by itself when it installs?

I did this so long ago.  I think this link may help you.

OK thanks. Once I get round to installing it i'll give it a go. I think i might have read somewhere that if if can detect your network card properly during the install, I think it tries to set it up for you. But we'll see.

These are topics that have been discussed many times on this forum.
Try searching for "networking", "dhcp", "netinfo", "appletalk", "nfs".

I, personally, would recommend running an ftp server on one or more computers on the network and using RBrowser on the OPENSTEP machine to retrieve files.

Browsing the Internets   on an OPENSTEP machine is quite a pain-in-the-ass these days.
