Does ifconfig or some other terminal tool exist where I can set my nextstation to
a static ip?
/etc/ifconfig will do the job, but it's not in your shell PATH variable by default.

If you want to set the static IP permanently you might want to check "/etc/hostconfig" if that exists on nextstation as well (it does on OpenStep for Intel which I use).
this may be of interest to you, I believe I used this method to set my Openstep PC to a static IP
