VMWare network settings for NetBoot?

I have a scenario where I'd like to netboot Black hardware from an Intel install, virtualized with VMWare Fusion for the Mac.

I believe I've taken care of all the complexities of the NextStep 3.3 side, including NFS mounts, partitioning /clients, NetInfo, etc etc.

The last part of the puzzle is: what network settings should VMWare have? I'm thinking Bridged, to eliminate the complexities of NAT.  But in this configuration, what should the Router and Netmask be set to -- on both the NeXT NetBoot virtual machine, as well as the OS X Mac which is serving as the host?

"Router" in particular has me puzzled, because this is essentially a private network between three machines: the Black machine, the Mac, and the virtualized White machine.

No need for access to the 'real' internet in this scenario, which should make it easier...

OK, I think I've narrowed this down to some obscure settings in VMWare Fusion's networking. I'll look into it further tomorrow, but has anyone done bootp packets over virtualized interfaces, regardless of platform?

I have, and it worked darn well for intel to sparc installation. The bootp daemon needs to just propagate your usual network information, aka default router (that's your internet gateway), what the client IP is and where the netboot server is. You *need* to turn off DHCP on your router for this! (I tried netbooting from openbsd, this fails completely due to weird NeXTSTEP rpc calls)

This only works on Ethernet, absolutely not in WiFi.
