Title: Sound-Out Tests Error Code E2
Post by: GrafZahl on September 18, 2011, 07:33:59 AM
Hello,

I've got a next station color turbo and a soundless Non ADB soundbox. Does anybody know whether an error code e2 (DMA transfer of sound-out data failed) is related to the soundbox, cable or the slab itself? Is the soundbox just an output medium or the actual "sound card"? It would be great if someone had a hint ore some idea of how it may be possible to re-enable sound output.

Thanks a lot.

Kind regards.

I finally got the opportunity to test the system with a different soundbox and as it turned out the issue was soundbox related. With the new soundbox sound is working and the error is gone.

Nevertheless it would be interesting if the faulty soundbox could be repaired given the fact that everything except sound output (mouse, keyboard, monitor and mic ) was working. I have it opened and the speaker is connected and there is no visual damage.

Check the capacitors? I sent a board to someone recently and I didn't notice that the capacitors were bad... you have to look somewhat closely.

Thanks for the quick reply. My brother who is more into electronic than me checked the capacitors and said that although he can't measure them correctly no capacitor has a short-circuit and they may work. But he does not know their resistance. He speculated it may be a controlling chip due to the computer reporting a dma error. We although checked what some chips may be for by searching for their data sheets  (preamp, filter/adc, dac) but did not found something for all. Does a schematic for this board exist?
