I have a NeXT laserjet printer, Model N2000, Part Number 369, Manufactured April 1992M. When I power up my NeXTstation, Model N1100, Part Number 1715, the printer wirs on, and shows up in the PrintManager. When I pull the paper tray, out the audio tells me this, and so forth. When I print something, the job shows up in the print que, and says "printing", but nothing happens on the printer end. Printer does not seem to try to start or anything. I have not used this printer before, so I have never see it work before.
Any ideas an what I could check? Thank you in advance.
Normally the main problem witht he printer is the paper tray pickup cog wears out but if it's powering on to a state where it can detect the tray being pulled I'm a bit stumped because that rules out the power supply and the cable.
Hello: Usually if you run a test print from print manager, it'll give a paper jam message open the print cue as well. It should actually try to grab the paper. I sell new intake rollers for $15 as these can get worn down.
I think in the documentation on this site they have the old deepspace faq , if not may be I can locate a printout scan it in and upload it on how to troubleshoot and repair the next laser printers.
I also have stacks of NeXT laser printers with various problems, I would sell you one for $25 and you may be able to swap parts back and forth to get it to work.
Hope that helps! Best Regards Rob Blessin

I have the exact same problem also on black hardware. Print jobs will pile in the queue but nothing gets printed. If I do a test print in print manager, it just get in the queue like any other print jobs. No error messages.
Something more I can add: I also have a network printer configured on my machine. Usually it works well. Now the same thing happens, print jobs gets in the queue and wait there.
It would seem, in my case at least, that the problem is not the printer itself but something in software... printing daemon ?
Is there any test I could do to make sure everything is configured correctly ?
When I check the processes on the machine I can see two lpd processes... What else do I need to check ?
Regards,
François
