Missing NeXTSTEP OS, the look and feel of it, in my everyday use on my Mac.  Don't like the direction Apple is taking with OS X Lion iPadifying it.

Curious if anyone here GNUStep WindowMaker OS on modern fast system?  It is very NeXTlike, and curious if it is stable and robust OS.

I understand one can use GNUSTEP with WindowMaker on Ubuntu Linux so would make a modern fast NeXT for my day to day work having access to many modern apps yet have the look and feel of NeXTSTEP.

Curious what you think of this combo.  Does it offer all Ubuntu 11.10 can offer but with NeXT look and feel or do I miss stuff not using Unify?

I've tried several times on and off for about 10 years.  GNUstep is just not complete enough and doesn't present a comparable user experience.

I've tweaked WindowMaker, created graphics resources and imported others, even going to far as to create a SUSE appliance integrating it all (sort of like the GNUstep LiveCD), and it is just too different to satisfy me.
