Has anyone taken an N4000 apart? How does one remove the front bezel? I have a dead N4000 and would like to look at the internal circuitry etc.

I would like to know how to gently open a N4000 display also so I can replace the sound board with an adb version so I can run the newer adb mouse and keyboard on my cube and have 3 displays.
BTW gtnicol, stay away from the flyback transformer as those hold a charge that can kill.
I worked at a monitor repair place in the 90s and you want to make sure to discharge that sucker before probing around it.

yes, I have poked around in monitors before, so I am aware of the danger :)
I am actually interested in looking at the soundboard in the N4000 because I believe it is different from the N4000A and the ADB versions. For ADB, I think your best bet is to use a soundbox.

I want to run a triple head monitor system on my Cube that already has 2 Dimension boards. I am running ADB now with a soundbox but in order to connect my mono display to the mix, I have to go non adb keyboard and mouse for now and they just don't work for me as nicely. I much prefer the ADB mouse but do like the non adb keyboard. hehehe..
Anyway, I have been searching for a good N4000B monitor but no one has one for sale so planned on sticking a adb soundcard from a good soundbox I have inside my N4000A so I can then connect ADB to my Cube and have all 3 displays working.

I popped the back of mine once when I got it because two of the deflection magnets had come loose.
Place the monitor with the tube resting on something soft (I scratched my tube doing this...) and remove the four hex screws on the back. You might have to wiggle the case a little but the back should slip right off.
The back comes off easily, but I want to get the front off on the N4000. On the N4000A you can remove the soundboard easily by removing the top panel after you have the back off, but on the N4000, it appears to be built into the display electronics.
Just getting my head back into the game a little. I pulled apart and N4000 and this is the board from it.

This is quite a bit different from later boards, and much easier to understand. The one chip I don't understand is the S38GC008PB02, which looks like a PAL or some such? I'm wondering if it might be possible to somehow dump this?[/img]
Ironically, that's now a Google part number that you can't Google.
