Kind of ironic... that would barely fit on the cube's original MO drive.

It leaves you with about 39.5mb left. You can do plenty with that.
I can put it in a torrent and seed it with the other next files I currently do, all I need is the file.
it's okay everyone, im getting ready to upload it right now
EDIT: um, or not... the guy gave me a broken link. Fail.
EDIT: okay, I did manage to download it... Can I post the link publicly?
NO! please don't post the link in public as i have just a slow internet-connection (upstream). will PM NeXTchef with a new URL....
regards,
michael
No, I mean I am going to mirror it for you. I just wanted to know if that was okay. I am hosting it from my own place.
sure, go ahead! I wanted it to be free for anybody who's interested in this poster 8)
Okay everyone, I have temporary access to a very powerful computer (3GHZ CPU, 6GB RAM, 700GB HD, etc.) and had a chance to convert to jpg. It reduced the size from about 200mb to about 60mb. I'm posting links to the original, and my version. I noticed that the original seems to be flipped upside down. Sorry, I can't change that one but the jpg isn't, so I would recommend that one. It's smaller anyway. ;D
Here is the full uncompressed TIFF:http://db.tt/jZTfoXhVAnd here is the jpg file, neatly packed into a ~60mb bow:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27276125/cubeposter.jpgDon't worry, mikeboss, I'm hosting it in my DropBox, so it won't affect your internet. Gotta love DropBox. lol.
Hope that helps,
Thanks, come again!
Either the TIFF version is in super high demand right now, or the link has died.
Im aware, I'll change it when I get home from weight lifting. It'll be up shortly. I'll alert u when it's back up.
I have the original and the jpg converted version provided by bronner now. I am going to clean up the tif version a bit to remove some of the scanning artefacts, flip it the right way up, and convert it to jpg and pdf. I can then post them in a torrent, if others are still interested in this option.
And thanks again to mikeboss for getting it scanned.
Ok, I fixed the broken link for the tif. Should be all good.
I enhanced the poster scan from mikeboss a bit (hopefully):
removed the green, red and blue vertical scan lines
removed some hairs and blotches
cut it down to the original format (no borders)
enhanced the logo and text at the bottom
You can download it from my Dropbox:

This is how it looks on my wall:
Pretty good I'd say. It's printed onto acrylic glass.

That looks really great :)
I just downloaded the enhanced version but I can't see anything in this file... I tried to open it with OS X Preview.app and Pixelmator. nogo... any idea what might have gone wrong?
regards,
michael
Preview.app didn't show anything (maybe it was processing it, but I didn't wait too long before quitting), but opening it in GIMP 2.8 worked great :)
I worked on the picture in GIMP. It has one layer and was exported as TIF.
Preview and Quicklook do not show anything of the TIF (maybe they choke on it). Pixelmator too. Graphicconverter, GIMP and PhotoMill work.
The PNG version seems to work everywhere:

thnx! the png works just fine.
Found the problem that Apple's viewers and Pixelmator have: I kept the original CS41XX color profile from the scanner.
When I change the profile to sRGB in GIMP the resulting TIF can be displayed by Preview and Pixelmator.
I'm not a pro but I think it is correct to keep the scanner's color profile.
Very cool. How much does it cost to print something like that?

Got it from my wife for birthday, so she went for the best. :D
It is from Whitewall, which seems to be one of the better "poster" printers out there. They accepted the large png file as regular upload. Other sites seems to be only for smaller photos etc. and chocke on a bigger / high resolution files. Whitewall also has international sites.
Mine is this product:
https://de.whitewall.com/foto-auf-acrylglas-metallic (i.e. metallic photo print behind acrylic glass). The size after removing the borders was 94 x 43 cm. It ended up at 180 Euros...
I have an original of this poster from when I worked at the University of Utah bookstore computer section around 1990, my boss gave it to me as a parting gift. It has some minor water damage on one corner. I'm interested in taking offers rather than selling on eBay. I also have a NeXT t-shirt and a NeXT bag somewhere (I'll need to look for those).
Hello Jeremy: I sent you a PM. best regards Rob Blessin
