Title: Internal HD replacement options

I'm considering replacing the DEC 400M HD in my slab, and I have the following 1 to 2GB drives available to me.

Other than the general Seagate good, Quantum bad guideline for install in black hardware can anyone give me first hand experience pro/con on the following units?

HP C2490A-300
IBM DPES31080
Quantum Fireball ST2100S
Quantum Fireball TM1280S

I'm leaning to using the IBM because I have a couple available to try, and although the HP is larger it has to be the noisiest 3.5 I've ever worked with.

Thanks very much for any suggestions.

I would concur with your preference.  The experiences I had with consumer grade Quantum drives of that era were generally not good.  On the other hand I pretty much never had any issues with Seagate and that is what I always leaned towards with SCSI.  I do not have a lot of long term experience with IBM drives, but I landed a number of them a while ago and they all seemed to work very well despite their age.

Note that you might have to roll-up your sleeves and make a disktab entry for the drive, although if it is smaller than 2GB then you should be ok without.
