Hello NeXT Community: Seeking hardware GURU
Booting a verbose mode at the end of the boot script it says NeXTdimension Board in Slot 2 failed to reset.
The Dimension board has anyone seen / been able to fix this problem before, I saw in another post someone else had a similar problem in best way to test a dimensionboard and he was looking for the NeXT Dimension eeprom file upon advice to try flash the bios. Any one have the file or have a way to extract it from a chip may be through unix wizardy via a terminal window. The board looks to be OK otherwise any help appreciated.
Also I would be willing to try and track down a replacement eeprom chip a flash it as I have access to some talented motherboard repairmen with all the right tools!
Best regards Rob Blessin
I think I might have the eeprom image, but I'd have to dig for it. My bet is that something else is wrong with it...

Sounds good, I'm thinking this would probably be a good one to figure out in the NeXT community; if it is a component level failure as it has appeared in this dimension board and at least one other in a separate post. If it is a matter of component failure due to age like a capacitor and we have a fix it would be cool for all the dimension board owners out there , I'm willing to try! If you have the EEprom file and flash instructions, I'll give it a shot to see if it makes a difference. best regards Rob Blessin
I'll have a look. I'm pretty sure I have the image and maybe the code for the EEPROM.
I've got two Dimensions, one of them is dead, iirc the led on the board does not even light up, I had a good look round with a magnifying glass a few years bacl but could not find anything visually. I'd hazard a guess that they are fixable provided non of the ASIC have died.

Hello NeXT Community: I had this board professionally recapped by Charles at MacCaps and it now boots , it did have 2 other problems with bad simms but replacing the 4 simms cleared it up and it boots into the OS! Yeah!
