Velly interesting... :D
this is pretty cool... curious to see where it goes
I looked at the USTeP forum (which isn't much of anything yet) as well as the ubuntu forum... now is the goal to make a x86 version of a modernized NeXTStep / OSX? And curious as to what they would do... doesn't sound like many of the people there have a very high opinion of NS / OS, the GUI or the like...

It also doesn't look like any of them have any experience with NS/OS either... which most likely accounts for their low (and misinformed) opinions.

Yeah. Plus, nowadays people are more interested in eye-candy rather than in usability, I guess (wthether it comes to Windows, Linux, OS-X). Despite of that many *nix guys love WindowMaker and I still love the clear NS/OS GUI:
That is quite possibly the worst project name ever.
Considering buntu is an african word for humanity to all, the NeXTbuntu guy seems to think it's appropriate to insult, personally, the GNUstep developers without any knowledge or attempt to inform himself of what they do.
He has in the opening posts on his blog not made any friends. It is a miracle that any GNUstep developer is prepared to communicate with him at all, let alone that none of them have taken offense, and are willing to work with and help him.

QuoteGiven my current situation I can devote considerable time to such a project.
I'm out of work, and have had plenty of time to use Ubuntu.
Quotehard-wired 'C' systems
I have no idea..
QuoteI know why the one is so much better than the other.
But you don't say so..
Weird post..
What is Ubuntu providing that GNUstep won't take away? Apt-get? The GNUStep live cd is Morphix. hence Debian, hence apt-get is there...
Hmm..
This will probably go nowhere. "Rick 1" doesn't appear to know the first thing about GNUStep and probably won't bring anything new to the table. Page and forums are down, anyway.
