Title: Next Turbo Color Error #4 on boot

Hi all,

I've been troubleshooting a NS Color turbo that refused to boot. At first the HDD was not detected at all. Looking at the board it was clear that all the surface mount caps were bad. I replaced them and cleaned up the board only to be greeted with an exception #4. After troubleshooting every removable component, I decided to compare this board to my working one. I noticed that this board had 2 additional capacitors above the HDD power connector. Sure enough when I removed them everything started right up. Has anyone encountered this before? You can see the placement here:

Your board photo looks identical to all TurboColor boards that I have.  Did you originally (from the factory) have two capacitors soldered to the four pads immediately above the HD power connector?

Yes, the original configuration for this board had all 3 positions filled.

Very interesting...  perhaps gtnicol or Rob Blessin have seen this type of configuration.
