I have this ATI 3D Rage LT Pro card I'm considering upgrading my video with, notably because it has support for DFP monitors.
I see that Apple has a driver package for Rage Chipset cards (
http://support.apple.com/kb/ta45886?viewlocale=en_us), some of them with AGP chipsets but I cannot find if it would work with mine.
I'm also not sure what will happen if I feed it the wrong driver. Will the OS fall back to a basic display driver or will I have to fits about in standalone mode to reinstall the old S3 driver? If the former I'll at least give the ATI driver a try.
install the new driver and see if it works. if it fails, enter "config=Default" at the boot prompt and the standard VGA driver will be loaded. afterwards you can reinstall the old S3 driver.
Look into PCI ID addition. The FAQ should have an entry.
It's the same as what the Hackintosh kids are doing.
I can't confirm if it will work
the card is keyed for 5V but won't even let you POST until you put it in a system with a 3.3v voltage rail.
