I wanted to transfer some files from my NeXTstation to my PC and was wondering if you could use a coax over cat5 converter for file transfer. I don't know if this topic has been covered but I would like to know as a new use of NeXTStep. Is this possible or not?

It's possible, and of course, if you have an older hub, they have ports for both. You say NeXTstation... it should have a CAT5 on it shouldn't it?

Depends on the OS version... I have DHCP set up on my main NeXT boxes but static IP config is easier.

I have OpenStep 4.2. I'm trying to connect it to a PC not another NeXT Computer. I have a Slab color.
