I'm wondering if anyone here has attempted to mod a logitech serial mouse for use with the next? Anything I should know when picking one out/ wiring it up?
Thanks in advance,
Brian
The modification I'm aware of is for a Logitech Busmouse, which essentially uses the same simple quadrature encoding as the NeXT (non-ADB) mouse. However, a Busmouse today is probably harder to find than an original NeXT mouse...
I successfully modified a Logitech PS/2 two-button mouse to work on an ATARI ST (which also uses quadrature encoding). A guide (in German, unfortunately, but you should be able to figure out the required modifications) can be found at
http://www.dilgar.de/Umbau_einer_Logitech-Maus.pdfThis should work on a NeXT as well if you adapt the pinout.
