I am selling most of my NeXT collection and some of the standard items are already listed.
I have two Pyro and two Nitro boards.
There are some comments later in this post from Mr. Rob Blessin at Blackhole Inc and so please read these.
I believe it would help if I gave some background information about the Pyro and Nitro boards.
I worked as an Apple Developer from 1984/85 and a joint Apple / NeXT Developer from 1990: I leased NeXT equipment in the early days because of the high cost of the equipment but I started to buy systems outright courtesy of a NeXT discount. I also received hardware and software from NeXT for assessment and development. I received two Pyro boards from NeXT but one of these developed a fault and caused a meltdown of the NeXT motherboard. I went through 5 replacement NeXT 256mb MO drives at the same time (and ultimately ceased to use them because of poor reliability). I purchased my first Pyro board from OpenSource Inc and the second one came via Dancing Bearing Enterprises in Hawaii. I knew of developers who had Nitro boards but I was not able to acquire one from any of the sources I knew in the mid-1990's. I came across Nitro boards by pure chance as I was trying to purchase a replacement NeXT Colour printer in 1998/1999. I had 4 printers from new but all had developed the common 'paper jam' fault. I was referred to ICL Sorbus in the UK who sent me a price list for their stock. This was in the summer of 1999. ICL Sorbus had a large stock of new / old stock NeXT equipment. I am assuming they purchased the inventory from NeXT UK. They had every item of NeXT hardware - Cubes, NeXTstations, Displays, Printers and so on. The only downside was they were selling the hardware at the same price as NeXT quoted when they ceased hardware sales in 1993. ICL Sorbus listed stock for 50Mhz NeXTstations which I queried. The outcome was I purchased two Nitro systems, along with a NeXT Colour Printer and NeXT Mono Printer.
I previously stated I am only selling one of each.
I also previously stated that I would prefer to sell to a UK buyer who can see the boards working.
The improvement in the Cube and NeXTstation is impressive but, of course, NeXT hardware remains slow against current offerings. I had a need of the additional performance when I acquired these boards but it seems to me the only value is their rarity. There is no escaping the fact that NeXT hardware is obsolete (remembering development and sales ceased 20 years ago).
I don't have any means of knowing the number of Pyro and Nitro boards that were manufactured but there were a minimum of 4 available in the UK (stock of ICL Sorbus). I also knew of 2 developers in New York who had these boards; this must have been about 1996.
If interested, please contact me on : loewesystems@gmail.com.
If you are in the UK, I will demonstrate in Kent.
I forgot to mention the cost of the Pyro and Nitro boards - The Pyro is £1250 and the Nitro is £1800.
Once again, please note I am only selling one of each (and so I will not sell all four).
Hello David Baxter:
"Please note as this goes back and forth for awhile", hey im a genuinely nice guy looking out for the NeXT community, first time in twenty years I've done this and it's the truth .I thought I should travel back here and edit my first response as he finally admits he is indeed David Baxter and his reputation precedes him from many fronts. I have no reason to make stories up about this guy. No matter how he paints it , he has been a plague upon the NeXT community for many years with annual scams spawned on various forums like EBay. He recently slithered onto the NeXT forums with yes another disguise alias as time passes more victims of his scams some small and others deep into 4 figures will may be choose to come forward whilst other victims will read in silent approval from the shadows.
All we can say is change your ways David Baxter you already owe people a lot of the equipment your are currently listing as they paid you for it! We believe some of it doesn't exist at any rate back to the original post: 99.9% of the folks on these NeXT forums are honest "David Baxter" falls into the .1% no bueno.
@@@@@@
I think I'm going to have to call you out on this one and call BS ; seriously lets see pictures this sounds eerily similar to the periodic scam you've been running on people for years under different alias's.
And what further ticks me off if yes you have ripped off NeXT friends of mine for thousands of dollars with the same tail of rare hardware from close proximity to your current location for many years . You have a huge set of balls for setting up shop on the forums with tails of working optical drives and animo .
The fact you are touting to be the owner of 2 of each of the rarest NeXT hardware pieces on the planet and are offering them at a deep discount raises red flags. Anyone doing this deal I would advise putting no money up front and would recommend seeing it in person which will no doubt lead to a run around.
I'm just saying photographic evidence would go along way as I may be dead wrong but this sounds way to good to be true it probably is buyer beware. My 2 cents I just don't want to read , hear or have to console another victim of this guy , his cohorts or alias's I personally know where 5 of the 7 Nitros are as I'm friends with the guys that own them and the odds he has 2 originals would be astronomical.
I've said my peace, I know I am far from perfect in my dealings and I would stake my reputation on this one and I feel this warrants being brought to the attention of the NeXT community and others on here will probably back my suspicions. The fact he leads with claiming to have the NeXT crown jewels in duplicate for sale cheap to draw potential victims in makes it suspect. As I say photos would clear this up quick and I would most certainly apolgize if wrong.
If you are negotiating a deal currently with him I will be glad to put you in touch with several NeXT forum members who will elaborate on these suspicions I'm bringing forth just trying to look out for the greater good. I've been doing this 20 years and this is the very first time in all my years of experience that I have personally done this I have absolutely nothing to gain from it.
Best Regards Rob Blessin

I am a keeping a single Cube and NeXTstation and so I shall be offering both a Pyro and Nitro board.

This is simply not true.
I have sold and dispatched a single Canon MO drive and the forum member will be able to verify this. I have also dispatched a small amount of software.
I will post photos of all the items listed including Pyro/Nitro boards.
In any event, I confirmed that these would be demonstrated and shown working.
Being the owner of a few pyro boards and 1 nitro, I am aware of how rare they are. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for photos, especially of the Nitro's. Even Wikipedia says there are an estimated 5-20 out there... but I think Rob's estimate of 7 is probably closer to the mark.
I agree totally - Photos of the boards would be provided as a matter of course. My preference was for the buyer to see them working and hence offered to a UK buyer as a preference.
I shall providing photos to Rob Blessin as early as I can arrange next week. I shall also provide photos of the collection, along with a stack of working Canon MO drives (ex BaE Sysrtems). I shall also ask the two forum members who have purchased items to confirm their satisfaction with the items they have bought.
Dear Rob,
thank you for bringing this into the picture and such prevent further damage.
Feel free to add me to your list of people, that sent money to Mr. Baxter and never got something back. I can provide a bunch of photos (done by him) showing the hardware ... this doesn't even proof that he's owning stuff.

Always good to see the forum fired up a little .... Hey believe me I would be the first to apologize as I've never gone out on a limb like this as I say and you may be a Saint of Circumstance like Indiana Jones finding Raiders of the Lost Arc and reselling it cheap lol or the pinnacle of evil Staypuff Marshmallow man in Ghostbusters flinging goo at everyone in the NeXT community. To really clear this up and extinguish my Ghostbuster flame, I would suggest a video on you tube showing all 4 boxes booting up and running with the Pyro's and Nitro's , I'll have a melt down and even wear a Windows or Microsoft shirt for like a week as punishment. please Prove me wrong 8)
I live in England amd I will be happy to visit and see his collection in person over a weeked, if wife and commitments allow it
:)
I would be happy to arrange that and confirm that everything is exactly as described and listed. The NeXT items are a small part of the collection (probably less than 1%) but all the hardware/software can be viewed.
I would please ask that if anyone experienced any problems prior to 2011 to please contact me. My personal and business affairs were dealt with by a solicitor and trustees during two separate periods of ill-health. I have built up a long-term association with most vintage computer buyers and so if there are any outstanding issues they must be a very low number (and only over a period of a few months). There should not be any outstanding issues. If there are, please contact me. I will sort out any unresolved issues.
I am pretty sure I still have the price list that I was sent by ICL Sorbus and also the last price list from NeXT in 1993.
The items I have obtained over the years have often been pure luck - I came across ICL Sorbus when I was looking for something else (NeXT Colour Printer).
The Canon MO Drives were purchased in the hope they would be NeXT compatible but, of course, there was no guarantee. I have a large storage unit full of ex-BAe Document Archive systems which were purchased for the sole purpose of removing the MO drives. They were not only neXT compatible but better and obviously more reliable. I have also been fortunate in finding compatible media.
I shall make links to the working boards and also also the working MO drives. I will be able to do so in a matter of days.
The easiest answer is to see them working which I can arrange for anyone who is in the UK, or can get to the UK to see them.
Please note this is the first time in 20 years of doing business at Black hole that I am pressing for answers from this particular poster for good reason :
Hello David and or Andrew Baxter:
I'm going to offer an explanation with a few juicy tidbits from past dealings with you and ask clearly are you David or Andrew Baxter or have you used these names as a former alias because interestingly enough your current posts and csi with my past email this sounds like another encarnation of you:

Exhibit B:
Your planned The Nitro Purchase gone south:
I do remember the Nirto purchase you were promising to make , over and over and over and over and over and over to the point of insanity....
here is a response sent directly to you from the seller, as I was brokering it for him glad we pulled out for sure!
.....
Howdee!
In getting pricing, I found that FedX will only insure the Nitro up to $1000, and USPS only up to about $1-200 (depends on service)
UPS will insure it, and they are as expensive to ship as FedX. USPS is much cheaper to ship, but no useful insurance.
So I recommend that the Nitro board goes via UPS insured for $4000 and the Slab goes via USPS insured for whatever they are willing to do. Both services take about 7-10 days.
Nitro via UPS, Insured (4K) is ~ $181.00 as quoted at the counter.
Slab via USPS, Insured (?) is ~ $87.00 as quoted at the counter.
This seems to be the best way to do it. (BTW, The USPS gal may have fudged a bit because she did not see a zip code of PO16 8RP. Her system showed 6RP, 7RP and a 9RP but the system seemed to skip 8RP
So please do verify the shipping address one more time for me please. Last thing I want to have happen is this ending up somewhere in limbo!
Exhibit C: Is this a legitimate address:
Is this a real address

Fareham

United Kingdom
Him this is very interesting one just needs to google Fareham kent to see how close this is
Exhibit D,E,F,G .....
And we gave up trying to do the deal with you and moved on , however I heard from others they sent you equipment upfront and were never paid and the equipment you list actually may have correlating serial numbers boom.
I post with plenty of empathy as I say you all can feel free to make your own judgements:

So if you are Andrew or David Baxter or any of the other alias's .... yes, I have several contacts that would enjoy a friendly visit to observe the equipment in LAW ENFORCEMENT in fact a few well trusted in the NeXT community actually sent you equipment and were never paid and a few more paid for equipment that was never sent. Others have taken up a direct approach currently to wanting to see the equipment working in person , I'm told its a run around.
I guess what I am trying to determine is are you the same person or are we mistaken in your identity.
I once more call BS as I say this is the first time in my 20 years I'm standing my ground, I haven't been perfect in my dealings but it was never intentional or malicious or devious or fraud when I did screw up. I care about NeXT hardware and the NeXT community and in fact trust 99.9% of the customers I've dealt with over 20 years and you sir fall into the .1% I do not trust and that should say a lot.
I rest my case Red Dog blitz , I know I stand not alone as many more stand silent behind me but supportive of these bold statements peace and respect .
David, Andrew or whatever alias this is Baxter:
In summary in the last few years you repeatedly contacted me and stated over and over and over you wanted to purchase very rare NeXT items you now claim to have owned for years like Nitro's , Pyro's and Turbo Cube Dimension systems being from the same town .
I sent quotes , pictures and help with items all the while loosing out on business over and over you promised the money is on the way with lots of excuses probably waiting for your scams to come through ....
In all of those dealing only once did I receive payment by wire transfer after months and it was sketchy to say the least , I also found out that a friend of mine had paid you for equipment they had not received about the same time so you were borrowing from Peter to pay Paul and shafting everyone else left, right and center.
I sent the NeXT items to you which you received but it was a fiasco on your end. You received what you bought and paid for from me , a thousand worth of products when on a few dozen separate occasions you committed to purchasing over 10 k , which you never completed the transactions with excuses or without closure or explanation.
When a friend in the NeXT community mentioned your name and said he was flat out ripped off , paid and never received NeXT items and at least 2 others said they sent you NeXT products and were not paid . Another saying you ebay accounts were terminated by dozens of complaints ..... hmmm
I'm looking at the situation now and what you are listing currently on the forums may be victims merchandise you are reselling as you may be thinking the heat has cooled after a few years yo but believe me , there are some very unhappy campers that would indeed like to settle accounts in a civil manor with you.
Make it right with them , it will probably lift a tremendous weight off your shoulders and if all these posts currently are indeed your latest attempt at a scam just remove them and move on with life and find something honest to do. Quit trying to burn people in the NeXT community as we are cool people and we look out for each other.
If you are a different guy the truth will be in the followups to this post. If you are a different person please note you live in the very same small town in England as David aka Andrew aka Alex Baxter and would recommend you keep your doors locked as he is definitely looking to heist your NeXT equipment!
Enough said.
best regards Rob Blessin
I am absolutely livid about these latest comments because it is a complete distortion of the facts. The simple fact is there were some medical issues prior to 2011 which are ongoing but controlled. I have actually asked anyone here who has experienced any problems to contact me direct to get them resolved.
I have not used aliases and nor have I routinely sold items and not dispatched them. I believe at most there might be 1 or 2 items that were not received and that is it. I heard from Stefan and I contacted him immediately. To say I have had hundreds of Ebay complaints is completely untrue and also complete nonsense. I am not aware of any and nor do I believe there are any.
Recently, I have sold a single Canon MO drive and media which has been dispatched. Also, a small collection of software boxes.
I fully accept there was 1 (or a maximum of 2) cases prior to 2011 which need to be resolved and I am happy to do so. I will also do so promptly.
I have actually arranged for the complete collection to be viewed by a member on or about the 17th September 2013 which will put an end to all this nonsense.
I cannot and will not accept statements which are defamatory and malicious.
I will ensure that any problems prior to 2011 (which cannot be more than 1 or possibly 2) are fully resolved. I shall also provide both with full details to show that I went out of my way to try and ensure matters were dealt with properly.
I have regrettably decided this matter needs to be placed in the hands of solicitors and so this is what I have decided to do.
I shall pursue this matter vigorously because the simple fact is I had a period of ill-health where the underlying cause was peripheral vascular disease (secondary to an injury). I have had three fingers amputated and I still have widespread tissue necrosis in the arm.
The allegations are not deserved and I have made it crystal clear that any problems during this time will be investigated and resolved without delay.
I shall not enter into selling any additional items until any outstanding complaints are fully resolved and, of course, the legal process has been completed on foot of these allegations.
I can also categorically state that I have never received any NeXT items which have not been paid for. I intend to work through the allegations one by one. Please provide me with full details here as this is where the statement has been made.
There is a further allegation of 'hundreds' of Ebay complaints. This is completely untrue and completely without merit. There are none. I have records for all items sold previously and receipts or feedback for the items sold. This statement is also defamatory and malicious. Again, this will need to be dealt with through the legal route. It is libel.
This is my final posting on this subject as all the allegations made here by Mr. Rob Blessin at Blackhole are being placed in the hands of Solicitors. This process will undoubtedly take some time but I shall report the outcome fully when the legal process is completed.
I have printed off all the comments made here by Mr. Blessin but basically his allegations centre on a non-completed order; although the emails to him actually refer to a period of ill-health. The allegations are completely untrue (reference to the Canon MO drive being one; which was the first working drive I obtained). I simply informed him of a working drive but why that should be a problem I fail to understand.
I fully accept that a period of ill-health in 2011 may have caused disruption to one or a maximum of two transactions. I am pleased any outstanding problems have been flushed out because I am more than happy to deal with them fairly and promptly. This process is already in hand with Stefan; which is the only complaint that has been brought to my attention.
I am not going to tolerate a series of allegations which are totally false. If something has gone wrong, I will put it right. However, to say I have used aliases, had hundreds of Ebay complaints, and not paid for NeXT items I have bought etc etc is completely and totally false. I shall disprove these allegations one by one and seek the appropriate apologies.
From what has been reported, I understand a parcel sent to Stefan in 2011 has not been received. I need to make some enquiries and see what happened. If this is the case, I shall either refund or replace (depending on preference). I have made this abundantly clear.
Mr. Blessin has referred to an order which was not completed. This was not completed because of ill-health and he knows this perfectly well. I actually completed an order for approximately $1200.00 for spares and paid for it. To be attacked, because you did not complete a second order (when I was hospitalised because of fingers amputations and tissue necrosis) is a bit much. With regard to my order, I would remind Mr. Blessin that I reported ink had escaped from a badly packed toner cartridge and the paper jam printer kit had also arrived damaged. I didn't make a fuss - simply reported the problem - and I didn't even request a refund for the damaged items. I also recall I posted a Non-ADB Soundbox (which appeared faulty on a TurboColour) but it was never returned.
I reiterate if anyone experienced any problems around 2011 please let me know here or directly. I will happily sort out any problems but I can only do so if I am actually aware of a problem.
There are some very serious issues here and I regret to say Mr. Blessin has made a serious error of judgment. There are false, malicious and defamatory statements (numerous of each). There is also a blatant breach of privacy and trust.
I shall not rest until I receive and full and unreserved apology from Mr. Blessin and the appropriate remedial action is taken. I am very angry and disgusted by his comments but I shall refrain from making any further comment at this stage. All the matters referred to will be dealt with through the legal process.
Loewe1, I think Mr. Blessin has said repeatedly that this may be a case of mistaken identify. For everyones' edification, I wonder if you could confirm or deny that your name is David, Andrew or Alex Baxter?
If it is not, then I think everyone would be most happy to put it all down to mistaken identity and to move on.
I am absolutely appalled at the vicious and unfounded attacks I have received from Mr. Blessin at Blackhole. I do not know where to begin there are so many falsehoods. I have never heard of Alex Baxter. I am David Baxter.
The problem here is there are serious and unfounded allegations or the most appalling distortions.
1) I have been accused of selling or offering items I do not have or own. The only thing I can do is provide photographic evidence of the collection or have an independent member verify them. Both I am happy to do.
2) I have been accused of a 'scam' by having working Canon MO drives. I initially had one working drive. I subsequently acquired a number of ex BaE document retrieval systems with Canon MO drives. Again, I am happy to provide photos of the drives, contents of NeXT media, etc etc. I am also happy for an independent member to verify them
3) I have been accused of buying NeXT items and not paying for them. This is also totally untrue. I must have purchased hundred of items since 1990 and there has never been an occasion when I have received an item and not paid for it.
4) I have been accused of selling items and not sending them. I was not aware of any issues although I was subsequently made aware of a problem that occurred during a period of ill-health in 2011. If a problem problem occursI am only too happy to put things right. I do not need to be bullied by Mr. Blessin to do so.
5) I have been accused of having 'hundreds' of complaints on previous Ebay accounts. This is also completely untrue. If I ever sold an item it was dispatched and received. I always contacted buyers to make sure the item arrived safely and they were happy. I closed my previous Ebay accounts because I was being asked to register as a business. I closed my accounts but without any outstanding complaints and the decision to do so was mine.
I am absolutely appalled that all these nasty attacks basically stem from a period of ill-health in 2011 and previously. The trigger was an arm injury but the underlying cause was peripheral vascular disease. This was not a minor inconvenience as I had to have fingers amputated and the problems have been ongoing. I currently have tissue necrosis in the arm and a large open wound. I might understand the criticism but my affairs were handled under a Power of Attorney for a long period and I was went out of my way to cause as little inconvenience to others as possible.
I can't know if there were any problems remaining from this period if I am not told about them. I have had the bizarre situation where I have to beg and plead for anyone with a problem to contact me. In any event, I know the number of complaints would have to be miniscule because I know most previous buyers on a personal level.
The never ending falsehoods are beginning to take a toll and hence I am instructing solicitors to bring this matter to an end.
I shall not sell any further items through the forum because it would be unfair to do so against this backdrop. I will continue to help with technical problems and software queries as previously, but that is it.
Hello David Baxter:
I thought you all may really enjoy this one , completely independant of the forum from a well trusted Red Star ebayer and good friend as well: I will be happy to provide his contact information to anyone interested in hearing about the further tails of David Baxter from alternate sources , the flood gates have only begun to open and believe me I'm far from bullying , I'm the nicest guy you'll know and lets just call this sparing I'll rope-a- dope with you all day long David or Andrew Baxter , I have emails from you with these names attached I hear from someone else you even have a womens name alias "Phillis Godfrey".. that must be the real wildside alias you have; who just happened to be listing the identical equipment afewshort weeks ago that you list here on Ebay but Ebay terminated the Phillis Godfery account then it appears here WOW really .... in fact in your current form David chew a little on the truth below from 2012.
Dear Rob
Good to hear from you, I sold the cube but did not send it as I never received payment. Once a crook always a crook. I already got an email from one of my British customers about him and know David Baxter has been banned from eBay. How are you doing, I have not seen any listings of yours. I know you are still active on your web page. I may need a few more scissor drives to complete my remaining systems, let me know if we can still do the same price on the barracuda drives. Thanks and best wishes, Chuck
.... Please note I would also recommend Chuck and Gavin as fellow resellers of NeXT equipment , as most of us on the forum know we have done many many years worth of great business . Believe me I'm not trying to become another victim of David Baxter's bipolar roller coaster ride. When all is said and done no hard feelings mate just looking out for the greater good and honestly deep down it would be cool if you have all that cool stuff and hooked some folks up yo.
Hey David: I would be happy to send you a soundbox and cartridge by the way especially if you are making good on past dealings, I just need a legitimate current address .
In fact i'm feeling inspired how about your collection of mythical hardware; I'll put together something real ; a quad head Turbo Dimension Cube with 4 flat panels and post some photos soon on my youtube page , I've done 3 but never 4 should be cool .....
Peace out Rob Blessin
These postings are getting every more bizarre.
I am not banned from Ebay and never have been.
All the issues raised here can and will be dealt with through the proper legal processes.
I will be seeking full details of all these allegations and they can be dealt with item by item.
Hello David Baxter: I have nothing to gain from this ok. It doesn't phase me that you continually don't follow through on purchases with numerous people, it happens it is part of doing business. People contacted me about you on several occasions and how sketchy it is doing business with you. Yes I agree because no matter how you paint it it is the truth believe me I've experienced it first hand.
A lot of things don't add up in your current offerings and my past personal experience with you doing business , like why on one hand you would need a laundry list of NeXT equipment initially coming across in perfect health whilst all of a sudden experiencing a half dozen ailments over many years to add to the uber rare equipment that you claim to have owned the entire time.
NeXT users contacted me about you not the other way around and some of it goes back to 2009 and they have loads of documentation as well.
The fact is I don't know to what extent the depth of what you are doing to piss people off reaches but I've been doing this for 20 years that is a long time ; I have ailments as well by the way but they complained to me. Im a hippy at heart and it takes a heck of a lot to get hippies mad but you sir are succeeding at that. I'm kind of glad you blew up the forum as several of us were wondering what to do should this day come.
I say choose the high road make good on your dealings with people , why would they or I make that up.
I honestly hope that hey may be after 4 years of this David Baxters annual offering to buy or sell NeXT hardware is for real this time. Man it would be cool to see someone doing the happy nitro dance as I say ill believe it when I see it .
I recall you did send me a soundbox which you said did not work and I tested it , it worked and emailed you back as it was going to be sent with your second order that you never followed through on hey man seriously I laughed at how many emails to you were stating this date and that date for payment 2 years running bro 2 friggin years it will happen as I say I get it shit happens in life.
As a seller to you all I can say is holy crap I would not want to be a buyer and from what I've heard from buyers from you I'm spot on that's the truth .
Get it right this time and ill personally applaud you and count it as one of those miracles in life. Best regards Rob Blessin
Quote from: "Loewe1"I have actually arranged for the complete collection to be viewed by a member on or about the 17th September 2013 which will put an end to all this nonsense.
Is this confirmed? I have not heard back from you about my viewing your collection, can you please kindly respond to my PM. Have you sorted out your issues with uno (Stefan)?
I am pleased to confirm I have contacted Stefan and agreed to send him a replacement Cube by FedEX which will be fully tracked and insured.
I am also pleased to see that items recently purchased from me have been received, namely, various boxes of Nextstep software to Andreas (Germany), and a Canon MO Drive and media to Michael (Switzerland). Postings made under other the other listing.
I shall not be selling any additional items until Stefan has received his replacement Cube. This would be grossly unfair on Stefan.
In the interim, I notice another Collector is selling a large number of interesting items. I would suggest any interested buyer takes a look.

Just to confirm, I am viewing your collection this afternoon, as agreed, yes? I am flying into London later today and need to book my train tickets to Kent. Can you please PM me the information about how to get to you? Thanks.

David / Loewe1, I have not received any reply to my PMs or postings in the forum about the details of my viewing of your collection later today. When we agreed the date (17th) and approximate venue (Kent), you said you would send me the precise location at which to meet closer to the 17th, but I have not received these details. I will be in London in a couple of hours and would appreciate your response. Thank you.
Hello David,
I have arrived in London now and am ready to head over to you in Kent to view your collection, as we have agreed, but I have not received any details of your location or the location you want to meet at, nor any reply from you to my PMs. Can you please kindly advise. I have meetings in London later this evening, so I must receive your details soon, otherwise the logistics won't work out.
Much appreciate your kind help with this matter, and look forward to seeing your vast trove of NeXT stuff soon!

Hello David: The least you can do is give this gentleman that flew into London the opportunity to view your collection as you promised him, I'll even apologize formally when he sees everything as I'm sure it must be amazing seriously as I see you have made good on a few small items so kudos there however proof in the pudding is showing off the big items that are the real deal photos will help alot for sure. Best regards Rob Blessin
I am afraid the result of the postings here is no further items will be viewed/sold until Stefan has received a replacement Cube. I believe I made this clear with all enquiries. I have dispatched Canon MO drives and boxes of Nexstep software as the purchases pre-dated this issue. I was not aware there was a problem but I have made arrangements for Stefan to receive a replacement. This is only right and proper and I do not need any prompting to do so.
I shall provide photographs of the collection and perhaps I should have done so from the start. The listings are not complete and there is a great deal more.
There has been a change and some members will be aware of this.
Items from the collection will be available free of charge if collected, or will be postage only with smaller items. The postage can be paid when the items are received to avoid any doubt or misunderstanding.
I do not wish to go into details here but the collections need to be cleared. I want these items to go to collectors. I do not wish to dispatch items to see them resold. This would be counter to what I am offering.
I shall provide more details later but I would urge members to contact me directly to ensure a reply.
Hi David,
While I was really looking forward to meeting you and seeing your collection (I've been wanting to see a Nitro for years!) and it's a bit of a shame that the viewing didn't work out as planned, happily I'm able to report that it didn't cause any real inconvenience, so there is no need to get excited about it. I had other business to do in London and I was able to use the time otherwise productively.
May I make a friendly suggestion, however. I think the best way to take this forward, in light of all the kerfuffle that's been taking place in the forums, would really be for you to allow an independent third party to view your collection and confirm that you have what you have. Particularly in the light of you having agreed for me to view it, and having announced in the forums that I would do come and view your collection today, it will look really bad if you are seen to have pulled out of the plan. I wouldn't waste time taking photos of your stuff, since there have already been doubters who have said that anyone can have photos of NeXT equipment and it doesn't prove anything — you'll never satisfy these people, and by bothering to take the photos, you'll just be wasting your time.
Although it would have been easier for me to combine a visit to Kent with one of my business trips to London, I'll volunteer to travel to Kent especially just to meet you and to see your collection. And I will then unconditionally vouch for you — and
I will post the photos
I take of it — so long as you allow me, and only of the photos you allow me to post, of course — and that will remove all doubt. Of course, I'll expect you to be nice to me and give me the right of first pickings of your most juicy items, because I'll help vouch for your name, OK :-) But there is no need for you to sell me anything for now, I appreciate you have to work things out with Stefan first, I'll come to view only at this stage. Is that a deal? Of course, I'll only do this if Rob will also agree to accept the result of my report. Rob, would that be OK with you?
So, are we all agreed on this?
Assuming that's OK with you, David, can you please give me a choice of several days over the next week or two when this would be possible for you?
If you give me a sufficient choice of dates, I may be able to combine it with another business trip, which would be really helpful, and I would really appreciate your help with this.
I look forward to meeting you and viewing your collection soon!

I appreciate what you say and I am more than happy for you to view the collection. This can be done as soon as a replacement Cube has been received by Stefan and he has confirmed all is well. On this basis, I would be happy with any day that suits yourself from the 29th September onwards. The collection has to be viewed in Kent. To assist, I shall arrange to meet you at Rochester station. You are welcome to see all the items whether that is Cubes, NeXTstations, Peripherals, Software, Boards etc etc. I have no objection to you photographing any items you wish. If you particularly require a Nitro board you are welcome to take it away and trial it along with an internal or external Canon MO drives. I shall not require any payment on the day. Please confirm a suitable date and I will be able to make the arrangements to meet you at Rochester. The collection is housed at two locations in Kent but not any appreciable distance apart. I would suggest you confirm the actual arrangements by direct email.
Hello: if this actually happens it restores my faith in humanity have a beer, shot or tea in the local pub on me Baxter and Tomaz. Ill even PayPal a payment to Tomaz . Best regards Rob
Can I repeat my question, as maybe Mr Loewe1 has not seen it amidst the exchange of all the other messages.

I have already responded and provide a great deal of background information. It might be worth confirming the position again. I have been advised of a problem two years or so back and I have resolved it. I have dispatched all items purchased through the forum(Fully working Canon MO Drives and Nextstep Software) and this has been confirmed. I have directed enquiries about hardware from outside the UK to Rob Blessin at Blackhole Inc. I have also dispatched a number of free items. I have confirmed that I am happy for the collection to be viewed, not least because it removes the need for me to photograph a large number of items. If there are any queries, requests or anything similar contact me by direct email. I provided a contact point for this purpose. In respect of previous comments, I need to point out that there are consequences for false statements and, of course, anything placed here can very easily be traced back to its source. It can and will be dealt with accordingly.
That's quite a mouthful of an answer to my question, which I repeat: have you ever heard of Andrew Baxter, also going by the name of Andrew D. Baxter? Do you know who he is and are you in any way connected to him?
I'm not saying anything, implying anything, or accusing anyone of anything.
Just asking a very simple question.

Okay so then if your who you say you are, and you have what you have, and your not in the hospital lets see some photos. Take them next to a photo of your DL with the the applicable information, besides your name, blacked out so you can't just go deep into Google pictures and pull some stuff. I'd assume you have some kind of means to snap a photo? It's great that your going to have someone check the stuff out but you've got a lot of talk but no follow through. Why not prove us all wrong and take a photo or two? And, I'm sure you know this, but if you "can't" take a photo you probably just shouldn't respond.

Great! I have worked things out so I will be in London on 30 September. Probably about mid-afternoon would work best for me. How does 3pm at Rochester station sound? Look forward to seeing you and your collection soon.
Is 30 September at 3pm confirmed?
I would much appreciate your reply. Thanks.
Quote from: "tomaz"Is 30 September at 3pm confirmed?
I refer to my previous message, namely, any enquiries in respect of this post will be via direct email only. I have stated this more than once. I am quite happy to meet you at Rochester and you are also welcome to trial a Nitro or Pyro board.
David, I think the room is looking at you as to whether you're going to keep your commitment to meet me any day after the 29th, especially after you publicly announced that you'd see me on the 17th and then cancelled. I don't care, of course, where we carry on our conversation, it's for your sake that I think the fact that this meeting happened on the date you committed it would happen should be kept in the public domain.
I'd much rather of course that we fixed it all private and that you sold your whole collection to me on the quiet :D
Anyway, look, flight prices are starting to get more expensive, and I have to now tell the other parties I've agreed to meet whether I'm meeting them on Monday or not. It's not worth my while flying just to get to the other meeting. What I'll do is buy my flight ticket now, since you've already confirmed that any day after the 29th is OK for you, the 30th seems the most obvious such date and since I trust you to keep your word. But if you do need to cancel, please can you let me know by Saturday as after that date I can't get a refund for my flight ticket. Also, I promised the other party I'd let them know if the meeting with them is taking place on Monday or not by the end of today, so it would be super helpful if you could please confirm by the end of today, although I appreciate you might not be reading this forum every day, so I totally understand if this is not possible. Many thanks.

Hello David: All that is holy in the world , the gentleman sounds like all he wants is to simply fly in on your timeline and save money doing it. he wants to view your magnificent collection and sounds like he is ready to buy it all, you should be doing snoopy dances of happiness man.
I think it would be cordial for you to commit to a firm time to meet him, the 30th at 3 at the Rochester train station a specific gate so it makes it impossible to miss , confirmed boom done deal , hold a sign up or something that says NeXT then peace and harmony returns to the forums. I will formally apologize to you when it happens as I say you are showing you are a man of your word sending out brochures, software and working optical drives so why wouldn't you want to just close out your inventory and move on with your life by making this deal and being done with it. We really want to see this stuff as it sounds awesome ! Best regards Rob Blessin
Tomaz
I think the 30th looks a bit tricky because I have an appointment in Aldershot at 4pm. That said, I will see if I can reschedule or give you alternative dates in early October. I shall update you just after 12pm today. If you can confirm the date I can make all the arrangements this end. Access is via a pontoon and across two other large boats. If you were interested in the complete collection you need to appreciate the scale. It would need a mid-size removal van (a car or small van would not be sufficient). It is a bit grimy on the lower decks because of renovations but the upper deck is complete and secure.
Tomaz
I can give two sets of dates in early October 2013 - The weekend of the 5th/6th October 2013 or the weekend of the 11th/12th/13th October 2013. Can you let me know if you can travel on these dates and, if so, confirm which one asap. I would suggest getting to Rochester Train Station by 1pm because of access restrictions to the boat. You will be able to see the complete collection and there is adequate power to test the computers and ancillary equipment. If you can let me know your onward travel arrangements I can drive you to a mainline station (services to/from Rochester are limited).
I am going to divide the collections into NeXT, Peripherals (External SCSI Optical, Hard, CDROM, DVDROM and others) and other Unix. There are a large number of other Unix systems - Digital, HP, SGI and Sun. I have the original system software for all the Unix systems including Tru64, Digital, SCO etc. There are also large containers with 500+ external SCSI cables and a lot more besides. In addition, of course, the Nitro and Pyro boards and duplicate NeXT motherboards (Cube and NeXTstations). There are internal and external Canon MO drives but none of the internal ones are in Cubes. It is relatively easy to connect them up outside the Cube to demonstrate them working.
There is also a large Apple collection which includes a 20th Anniversary Mac and most systems from the Apple II onwards.
I would suggest work clothes as access will be through lower decks which are undergoing renovations. The lower decks are grimy.
If you decide you want some or all of the collections you will need to think how you are going to move them. The NeXT items only would require a removal van and you would also need to think about storage.
Quote from: "Loewe1"... I have dispatched all items purchased through the forum(Fully working Canon MO Drives and Nextstep Software) and this has been confirmed...
Mr David Baxter,
Sorry to contradict you, but I would be more than happy to receive the Canon MO drive and media I paid 3 weeks ago.

Did Tomaz ever end up going to see the collection?
I cannot say who is wrong or right of course, having nothing to do with the whole affair. But I want to share this: the writings of Loewe1 contain a lot of stuff that is pretty common in the dealings of confidence tricksters. Like references to outside influences for things going wrong (insurance, transport), like promising all existing problems (they do exist apparently) will be solved immediately and like stories of 'ill health' (or other sad events that make one feel sympathetic).
The statements by Loewe1 may all be true, of course. But then Loewe1 has the bad luck that his life looks like the common excuses of a confidence trickster. Must be hard to live with in that case.
with me not receiving any response from Loewe1 anymore and not getting the second ODD he promised to ship, I want to share my own theory on the whole story:
I think he only had one single optical drive and never intended to ship it. but after the heat turned up in the forum, he shipped it to me, so everybody will calm down. I guess I was really lucky! I'm in contact with two forum members who never received what they had paid for. and I don't expect to receive the second ODD, ever. the e-mails he wrote to me and his posts in the forum all were very lengthy and full of excuses about this and that going wrong... all in all, a sad story indeed.
Quote from: "gctwnl".... like stories of 'ill health' (or other sad events that make one feel sympathetic).
Yea, I was thinking this guy's either got worse luck than Schleprock Bad Luck, or that he's some sort of scammer. But if he's been involved with Apple / NeXT for as long as he claims to have been, it's surprising that nobody's ever heard of him.

Yes.
Given his lack of reaction now, and the failures of others to contact him or see his collection and corroborate anything he has said, I would write him off as scammer.
Such guys make it bad for every other private person who has something for sale. Business that do a lot of business have less of a problem, as they can get a reputation corroborated by many customers.

No. In addition to the correspondence in the forum, I'd made one previous attempt to schedule a viewing, but due to unforseen circumstances, Mr Baxter had to reschedule that one (too).

Mr David Baxter,
Sorry to contradict you, but I would be more than happy to receive the Canon MO drive and media I paid 3 weeks ago.

Wondering since it seems confirmed that this person is not trustworthy and scamming people from money, the mods should teminate him from logging on anymore and maybe make a new sticky in the marketplace of his actions to beware on other sites he may frequent.
I think there is enough data now to make that decision easy for the mods.

but like a cockroach, cant it resurface with a new alias? i suppose locking the account is a start...
What a forum could do is this: when there are confirmed scammers, add them to a scammer list with as much info that you know, so people might be able to recognise the scammer if he/she surfaces with another alias.
Also a few generic tips like:
- watch out for new accounts (I have a MBA for sale in The Netherlands, and I got a bid above asking price form someone who had an account that was 1 day old wanting me to send it to Nigeria. Hmmm)
- if it's too good to be true, it probably is

It looks like a goo idea. I hope it will prevent other forum members from loosing money.
Baxter keeps promising me to dispatch the paid items by the end of the week or on Monday at the latest. But I doubt I will ever get them.

A confidence trickster might be pressured in actually delivering to one of his victims once in a while. Often the trickster does this to have an example to point to as "see, I did deliver!" so as to bolster confidence by others in him. For the confidence trickster a delivery plays purely a role as a step in the 'confidence trickster' game. Just like the 'initial small delivery'.
It is therefore not only important to look at
if the supplier delivered, but more importantly, how did the supplier do with regard to keeping made promises? With a scale of 0-100, where 0 is 'promises not kept' (i.e. no delivery at all) and 100 is 'as promised' (quickly and immediately). Having to pressure someone in delivering would not make delivery a 100 score, but maybe a 5 or 10 (if you had to put real pressure to get delivery).
Hello David Baxter:
I would suggest work clothes as access will be through lower decks which are undergoing renovations. The lower decks are grimy.
If you decide you want some or all of the collections you will need to think how you are going to move them. The NeXT items only would require a removal van and you would also need to think about storage.[/quote]
Sounds like a Monty Python type quest .... Is there now a close to potential sunken ship of NeXT's bobing on the waves in a hidden cove aaaaargh matie , I'm practically ready to fly abroad in this swashbuckling NeXT blockbuster adventure . I can almost smell the must of seaweed and rusty barnicles , visualise making way through the foggy swamp in a semi leaky raft, the eary glow of swaying lights in the distance, cobwebs , occasional sparks of ball lightening , maddening shrieks of seabirds finally arriving at the ghost NeXT ship.
A raspy voice emanates from the deck ahoy matie do you know the password to come aboard . I reply Yes bsd -s then sh /etc/rc & then newpasswd he he he Yee'll have to climb the mast and bungi from the crows nest and then schwab the Grimy decks first before seeing me treasure ... searching below to make sure Tomaz and others seeking the mythical hardware are not shackled in some Craigs List dungeon nightmare attached to some Windows 3.11 machine with 300 baud access; controlled by the semi mad sea captain scientist Baxter ; keeper of the golden Nitro and Pyro treasure beneath .... all we needs is a trustworthy treasure map to unearth the NeXT booty captain Baxter whilst you help us.
Heck its worth a try hopefully entertaining ! Best regards Rob Blessin
