I have a fresh install of OpenStep 4.2 User and Developer (Intel) with the Y2K patches etc.
I downloaded a couple of applications and they will not launch. I checked them from a terminal and I get the message:
can't open library:/NextLibrary/Frameworks/AppKit.framework/Versions/C/AppKit (No such file or directory, errno = 2)
I checked the directory and in the AppKit.framework I have "B" and "Current" , no Version C. Was this supposed to have been installed? It's possible I messed up somewhere in the installation, so any guidance here is appreciated.
When I have run into a problem like this, I have linked the directories: try linking /NextLibrary/Frameworks/AppKit.framework/Versions/B to point to /NextLibrary/Frameworks/AppKit.framework/Versions/C -- that might do the trick. I wouldn't recommend that as a general solution, but it has worked the time or two when I have tried it.
Thanks for the suggestion. That trick was one of the first things I tried. The error changed to something about a version number being too low, it was aware that the code in Version B is older than the C version that it wanted. I would have thought that 4.2 would have the latest version.... Can anyone confirm they even have a version C with 4.2?
I am not aware of versions higher than "B" in AppKit of OpenStep 4.2.
Can you please specify which applications/versions you try to run?
(to verify, if those are really supposed to run within OpenStep 4.2)
