Just a friendly reminder to never pull a rom chip until you've removed the battery. I forgot and just had a bad time. On the plus side I finally had a use for my programmer.

EPROMs are fairly rugged outside of a programmer when the quartz window is capped.

Hello Brian: Thanks, it may explain why I thought some motherboards had issues when it was a fried rom chip pulled when the battery was in. Best Regards Rob
It just doesn't make sense to me. It's an EPROM. It shouldn't even be associated with the battery circuit because it's non-volatile memory.
I don't have any concrete evidence other than the a fried ROM. I'm just going by the conventional wisdom that you should disconnect power sources from related hardware before working.
