Generally speaking I believe (though I've never done it myself) that you can compile and replace the existing Apache software. This file (ftp://ftp.blackcube.org/pub/Peanuts/MacOSX-Server/unix/connectivity/www/apache.1.3.6.m.P.bs.tar.gz) (binary & source) is a later build of Apache for Server 1.x, and looking at how it is setup may help you in building newer versions.
PHP is a little more complicated. A guy named Chad Cunningham had put together instructions on how to implement PHP on Server 1.x.
Almost all of this is out side of my realm of experience as (other than a small amount of file sharing) I use Rhapsody as a workstation OS.
Maybe someone else can be more helpful in this area.
Thanks for the Link and your reply (and of course your great rhapsody page!!!)

apache 1.3.37 should be possible. I built 1.3.31 with a little tweaking(really need to update that) on x86 DR2. openssl will build with a bit of tweaking, but I never got around to mod_ssl(does build on OS4.2) or php4(never seen a report of success or failure). I'd guess that php would be less troublesome to build on rhap/mosxs than os/ns, but couldn't guarantee that since I never got around to it... no word on mysql, but it did build on ppc at one point, and winfried has PostgreSQL building on NS, so it should be doable.
Chad Cunningham's patches were added to PHP CVS about 4 or 5 years ago, and might still be there. I didn't find any notice of deprecation of Mac OS X Server as a target platform.
It's probably a good idea to email the PHP.org people themselves to check the current status of Mac OS X server 1.
There are references to Chad Cunningham re PHP in the Apple mail lists and I think he's still active as an independant programmer based in the Billings, Montana, USA area.
Should you need his help, you might be able to find a PHP forum where he's a member.
Good luck, and keep us posted, oneday someone might decide to try something insane like setting up a Forum or LiveJournal server on OSXS or Rhapsody :)

Hello.. I would like to buy a license to use this program on my computer.. I have exausted my search in trying to find this program. No mac dealer and many haven't even heard about it, even sell it anymore!!
I will pay someone 100 dollars for the license for a copy of it!
The following site has information on installing mysql and php:
http://www.xclave.com/The versions are a bit dated, but seem to work. I have used the mysql binary but I haven't tested php yet. Hope this helps!
