Hi there,
Recently was given a NeXTstation Color Turbo - complete with keyboard mouse and sound box. The cables from the keyboard and mouse had been chewed on by a rat and had to be replaced but with the chewed keyboard cable, if i held the damaged part it would act as the power button and turn on the machine.
Now i have replaced them will cables that aren't chewed in half the power button on the keyboard doesn't work. I can't get the machine to start. Now i know with newer macs there is power on pads on the logic board and using a flat head you can short them. I was wondering if there is something similar on the NeXTstation
BTW I'm not using a NeXT display - just using a shitty 4:3 samsung flat screen - I know that the old cubes don't work with any display but the next ones so i thought I'd mention it

First and foremost make sure your monitor supports sync on green. Make sure that the middle of the Y-Cable is connected to the slab. Also check that you are running v74 of the ROM. The chip will be labeled. I have instructions on running headless here:

thank you that information was really useful and its working properly now - i have v64 ROM but it still works. I managed to get the Y-Cable around the wrong way - seriously silly stuff. Lesson learnt - never setup in a rush.
