I listed a full kit on ebay. New caps, and additional board to support older 68030 cubes included.

5w halogen bulb (The same kind used for kitchen appliances)
perfboard cut to size
3 pin standard female header (bulb socket)
96 pin connector (right angle connector which is the harder one to find)
A bit of wire

Use the -12V line for the negative terminal and the GND connection for the positive terminal on the bulb. Use some glue on the 96 pin connector to handle the stress of connecting/disconnecting. You'll have to very slightly bend the pins on the bulb to get them to fit. You'll probably break a few figuring out the right stress to use.  Do not use anything above 5W.

Suppose you miss having black hardware, how much of a cube do you really need to get something going?  If I had an 030 board, could I interface this bulb directly do the boards NuBUS backplane along with voltage?

Just curious.

Bare minimum all you need is a motherboard and power supply, yes.
