The is the first time I've booted this disk or any version of 0.8 from MO.
Video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBHnEG8sBKkIt takes a long time, so feel free to fast forward. 0.9 was a definite improvement in boot time.

I love the sound of the OD. I used to run my Cube exclusively off the OD.
Unless I stand corrected, you are now the first person on the internet, period, to upload a video of a cube MO booting.

It was really satisfying to finally see everything work together. The cube in question has all parts of the appropriate vintage to have been shipped with 0.8. Including the MO drive (Dec. 1988).
Are you still fighting with the digital board on yours? Is everything else working?

I'm SOL. Khashoggi who was better at electrical engineering then me has apparently gone full AWOL along with his test rig and everyone else apparently stopped caring once they got theirs fixed with a recap/bought a working recapped drive. <:/
I have extra working digital boards...
Well, I guess if you want to give me that kind of slack.....

I may have beaten him to it. The sound of it seeking is quite amusing.
Damn, there aren't many working NeXT optical drives out there in the world. The last time I tried to use mine it emitted the magic white smoke that makes all electronic devices work ;) -- After that mine never worked again. Kudos!
...Still looking for a replacement OD drive BTW.
I have some for sale in the marketplace, but they are admittedly quite pricey. It's a multi-day process to restore them with roughly a 40% success rate.

Wait, wasn't that the drive that you tried ejecting by software before you tried ejecting by means of the eject key?
