Hey Everyone,
I have a Cube that was fully working. It was booting to OpenSTEP off a new-ish SCSI hard drive and connecting to the network just fine.
I noticed over time that to get it to power on, I would have to hold the power key for longer and longer on the keyboard. As time went on I sometimes had to hold the key for 20+ seconds before the cube showed any signs of life (hard drive spinning, fan, screen coming on, etc)
Now, no longer how long I hold the key it does not power on. I tried unplugging it from AC power for over a week to let any capacitors power done. Plugged it in and same story.
Anyone have any idea what would cause this strange symptom (the long key press) and then death? Any simple things I can try to get it to power on again?
Thanks,
-Jeff
Did you change the battery?

No. Does the computer work without the battery? I could try removing it and powering it on to see if that helps.
I honestly really doubt the battery ever had a charge since I got this thing running.

the cube won't start without a working battery.
the battery isn't rechargeable :!:
ah ok. thats surprising. I'll try and track down a new battery.
I put the new battery in and it fired right up. No longer have to hold the power button for a long time.
Thanks a bunch mikeboss and barcher174
