Hi,

I thought this project may be of interest to this community and Andreas encouraged me to post..

I've the creator of a site for browsing archived web pages in old browsers.. It was mostly designed for more common place browsers like IE and Netscape. But, As it was the 25th anniversary of the first web page, I thought I'd also add the original WWW browser, which of course runs on NeXTStep.

Thanks for Andreas' excellent Previous emulator, you can now experience the first website running in NextSTEP 3.3:

http://oldweb.today/WWW/http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html

(For those interested, the source code for the project is at: https://github.com/ikreymer/netcapsule)

Here are my tweets about it with screenshots:

https://twitter.com/webrecorder_io/status/680210537855123457

One remaining issue is the mouse, which seems to be off from the system mouse (the movement rate is not the same).. I attempted to hide it to avoid the issue, but it can be a bit annoying.. Other than that, and perhaps the boot time (which I don't mind), I think it's working rather well.

Oh, and you can specify any url: http://oldweb.today/WWW/1996/http://example.com/ and it will attempt to load it in the WWW browser after starting up..

Any comments/feedback definitely welcome, esp. suggestions on how to improve the mouse issue.

Thanks,
ilya
