Now you cant tell me that is normal???

It appears to be a mono cube with no HD and a nonADB keyboard/mouse.  No monitor, no soundbox, no documentation, no software even.

I guess NeXT equipment is the new hot investment ticket, mabey I should put one of my mono stations up on ebay, at least it has a HD in it.

Amazing.

No Chef, that is not "normal", but look at the lack of feedbacks for the winner of the auction. Probably won't follow through.

Rob B. will probably raise his prices now.

Title: turbo color for $355
Post by: nextchef on September 23, 2006, 11:15:37 AM
In the amazing ebay sales list, we can add this one as well.  A next turbo color system with 21in monitor just went for $355.  At least this one was complete and working, but still amazing.

A mono turbo system just popped up as well.  It has a 17in monitor and a printer.  Lets see how much this one ends up going for.

yeah, I was surprised about how high that cube went for as well...

I bought my two monostation boxes without any accessories for $20 a piece I think (not including shipping).

The monitor was another $20 and the keyboard was something like $20.

So, missing the mouse, and adding a hard drive, I've got a complete mono system for $60 not counting shipping.  Seems like I may have gotten a decent deal buying it all piecewise...

The two mono stations I purchased cost me ~$10 each, w/o shipping, but including keyboards, HD, and memory.  I then picked up a colorstation board for $10, with the thought of upgrading one of the monostations.  I passed on the monitors, because of the extra cost in shipping, but I guess I should have picked up at least one for the soundboard.  Live and learn I guess.

This is why it has been so suprising to me the price that some of these systems have gone for lately.

I paid a little over $1100 for my Turbo Dimension Cube without laser printer or monitors in 2001.

Those dimension boards sure do go for some serious coin.

There's still some reasonably priced NeXTdimension boards out there, but it takes a lot of waiting and searching.  I purchased this non-turbo Dimension Cube (Cube only) about two months ago.

IIRC, there was a Dimension (board only) on ebay that went for ~$275 USD within the past year.

I guess I got a good deal then on some of the stuff.

I am still kicking myself that I missed picking up 6 cubes for $20 each, by just a few days.

I guess I did OK then when I got my cube for 555 pounds BIN on eBay UK about a year ago.  It had been on auction a few times for silly money, I think at one point he had it on for like 2500 pounds.  When I saw his last auction which he tried to describe most of what he had (seller was Korean and spoke English OK, but not good).  I took the plunge and bought what I knew was a NeXTcube Turbo+ a lot of software.  I didn't realise I'd done so well out of the deal, I got loads and loads of stuff, I took the choice pickings and saved the best stuff.  What I sold on I got about 220 pounds for.

I got a near mint 040 cube with 128mb Turbo logic board (cube came with 2 dud Barracudas).  I got the 25mhz 040 board with it (64mb ram iirc).  2 NTSC dimensions 32mb (one faulty). 5 non ADB Keyboards & 5 mice. 1 non ADB Soundbox, 1 ADB soundbox. 1 ADB Y cable (must have had a slab as well at some point).  I got a load of cables (NeXT cables & some Mac SCSI).  NeXT color printer.  4.2 & 3.3 usr/dev in Kanji.  4.2 & 3.3 usr/dev.  Loads of NeXT manuals & books and 3rd party SW.  NeXT CD ROM drive.  I got a dud 17" NeXT/Sony megapixel (perfect case, does not power and might be easy to fix or not).  I also got a load of Jap/Korean and English shareware CD's (peanuts etc).  I also got a few 3rd party NeXT books.

You can see the pics here:

With the exception of the Daydream and MacBook Pro most of what you see here is what I got in this deal.

Damn,  quite a haul of stuff you got with it.

Must have been a serious NeXT user, with all the software and such that came with it.

I met the seller personally.  He was a real nice guy, I know he sells loads of Unix stuff on eBay, mostly SGI.  I keep meaning to buy an SGI VW 320 or 540 off him sometime.  He didn't seem to know that much about it (he described the dimensions as network boards) so I think he was selling it for somebody.  I think the machine may have actually come from the far east originally, as there where some packing slips on the boxes which said they'd been sent from Seoul, Korea.  But it does look like it was used for serious design or print work.  I got a backup suite with it (I forgot the name).

I reckon I did real well, shame one of the dimensions is dead as a dodo.  The cube is virtually mark free, I'd give 98% out of 100 on cosmetics.  Cubes are rare in the UK, Turbos even more so, be nicer if it had a PAL dimension but, what the hell.
