Could you use a NeXT Station as a renderman engine?

I'm currently trying to get an SGI station, and was wondering that since NeXTSTEP has Renderman built into it, one could use it like a Pixar Image Computer and have it render things using SGI interface software. Would one have to specifically get the early version of Renderman onto the SGI Station just to use it?

I thought that's what the Zilla app was supposed to be used for. Documentation is basically non-existent and unhelpful in my opinion.

Any other thoughts?
