Hi,
I was wondering is there a way to get the NeXTStep to start up automatically at 05:30 in the morning?
I put a checked mark in "at specified time" and at time 05:30 in the Startup Preferences in Preferences but it doesn't seem to work.
Am I missing something here?
Thanks,
Mark
Hi
I don't think the autostart really works, I did try many times but never got it to work either
Yah I kinda gave up also. Would be a cool feature tho,
thanks,
Mark
Hello NeXT Community: I'm fairly sure it has to work under parameters there is a setting to powerup automatically after power failure. So when power is restored the system automatically power up on some systems you shut down, power off and it powers back up this is cleared by changing the setting to no . Under the Calendar icon opening preferences scrolling right the last choice is the autostart feature , I know on the intel side this was a power management tool to help conserve battery life for laptops.
It looks as though you should be able to set it to start up the NeXT at either a given time or time and date which would be uber cool.
I've been perusing through NeXT answers on our archives as my guess is there has to be a detailed configuration response just a matter of finding it.
I'm wondering if you need to have the system set up as a server that controls the time and date for the network usually the clients are booted first then the server finds them at intial setup and asks to add them to the network so it is probably tricky to configure. I'll tinker with a NeXT box here .... I can see a Cube starting up in some dusty corner of a Museum in 2088 , the plot thickens messing with the future admin dudes lol.
