I have been working on my spare time restoring my printer when I bought it a few years ago, the printer was in an OK state and after delivery I testes, and I initially have issues with the paper feed and delivery system, and the pints were not great either.
So due work and other commitments I didn't much either, time passed fast and I decided to work on the printer to try and "repair it", but the printer has stopped working.
the culprit was the main controller PCB, the caps were all damaged, acid leaking and for an unknown reason, two power resistors were blown due high current. so I remove them
https://www.flickr.com/photos/28298799@N07/49281552967/for the old controller, I need to replace the caps but need also to fix some traces damaged by acid
I asked Rob to sell me the part and I decided to get more just in case and to keep some spares (motor, fusion unit, high and low voltage power supplies)
on the controller replacement PCB, the caps started to leak, after a few months, so I change them all, but I saw the post about the thermistor issue and I checked both in mine and the replacement, both were OK but too old.
so started to hunt for brand new parts, so I found an old new stock of parts, that includes the rollers for intake, the paper traction pad, gears, and more importantly the drums for the fuser and pressure roller, so I got them all

https://www.flickr.com/photos/28298799@N07/49281545722/but it turns out this lap is too long as I want to have a new lamp in case of the other fail,
anyway, all changed, lubricant and grease at correct places new tonner and cleaning pad
my "new printer" did print about 30 pages without any issue, so perfect I was really happy with the results
but after the 30th of more testing pages, I noticed the print quality start to deteriorate and now I have dirty prints with some horizontal lines.
I'm guessing the issue is due to the toner being too old, so I will get a "new" toner to test, if this works then I can claim victory over the printer restoration but the toner issue will remain

UPDATE
I had tested with a "new" tonner and I can say the issue is the toner, I guess all those old toners are the issue with the internal rollers, so I test it and the first 10 to 20 pages were pristine, but then after the smudge and lines did appear again
anyway I have my printer fully restored

I bought some parts on ebay others on a local pc repair shop, it took some time to find the parts
I can't find HP 95A toner cartridges anywhere anymore? Is that the right toner cartridge?
I've copy-pasted these notes from various sites regarding compatible toner cartridges:
- "HP ref: HP 92295A (that is what you will see on the box) -> later available as HP 95A"
- "The toner cartridge is a standard EP-S cartridge, the same that fits the HP LaserJet III and some other printers. Any HP LaserJet II or III will fit."
