Awaiting shipment for my new slab from Rob, can't wait! I plan to interface it with OSX (High Sierra and up) and FreeBSD. The intention is mostly for writing articles and knowledge management (notes, etc). Maybe some CLI work...email?
My question to you is: what should I plan for the network? ZFS and AFP weren't invented, so is there a way to store .rtf files in a central location?
What about hard drives? VNC?
Any other suggestions of what I can do with this old hotrod?
Thanks!
I use FTP for file sharing.
I have my cube connected to my Home NAS via NFS, it is much better than FTP, but you might want to explore SMB too, there is a client for it, but I never tested, because NFS works for me
nfs would probably best but mac can share smb correct? and NeXT works with smb as well? i've not personally tried that either...
That said, macos ftp / finder integration makes ftp very easy to use and appears as another volume on macos.
Hello Bill: Welcome aboard... It looks like you are back , so I'll plan on shipping her Monday , we are getting blitzed here with back to back to back to back snowstorms . Nothing in January then this lol crazy weather.
Jesse , it looks like your Turbo Color motherboard is slated for delivery today as well by end of day and I just received my new ram order in so I'll test the Turbo Color board over the weekend unless it arrives in the next few hours with 128Mb ram.

Great info, thanks! I'm building a FreeBSD server now to experiment with ZFS and jails, so I'll configure NFS and Samba.
Easiest will be FTP, but it will be fun to get the others working as well.
