Hi folks,
I've been spending a bit of time with my NeXTboxen this winter and decided to trawl through NextStep email clients. MailManager 3.0.65 in
http://www.nextcomputers.org/NeXTfiles/Software/NEXTSTEP/Apps/Internet/Mail/ looked promising since it implements IMAP, which is now a long-matured standard. And it works with my ISP (CenturyLink), even using TLS! NextStep goodness...yum...
Of course two of the biggest providers (gmail & Yahoo mail) have borked things such that some IMAP clients can no longer connect, but I don't much rely on them for anything...
Have fun!
Caveat: it does not want to connect correctly with the Centurylink SMTP server. Mark Crispin,
who happens to have been a major author of the IMAP standard, wrote this program and provided a
'telemetry' window in which to watch the responses of the IMAP & SMTP servers as the program
sends commands. Thus I see the server saying that the program is not logging in correctly...
Perhaps someone else can try the program out with their SMTP server?
Bump up.... Has anyone tried it with their email provider?
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
Greetings from cold, icy Virginia, USA...
