My cube was functioning normally earlier today. I needed to make an IP config change (which I did) that necessitated a reboot. Now, I'm fairly sure this issue isn't related to my changes but I figured I'd mention them for completeness. Anyway, I rebooted from the login screen. I always boot in the verbose mode that shows the boot process. Everything seems to happen normally except that when the gray screen which should host the login dialog comes up: It has no login dialog. I can see/move the mouse pointer (arrow). I can change the brightness with the keyboard. That's about it though.
Anyone knows what might be happening here? Also, aren't there key combos to invoke like the NMI console and stuff? I can't recall what they are.
This is a dimension cube with non-ADB mouse and keyboard.
TIA!
Ok. Hmmm...
Well I guess either:
A. 4th time is a charm. Or...
B. The network config changes + having the ethernet cable plugged into the main board's port (and connected or not connected) to the switch was causing some evil.
Whichever or whatever it was it seems to have resolved itself OR unplugging the network cable completely resolved it.
