I got my Turbo mono as a "untested, parts only" machine on eBay a little over two years ago and I was thrilled that even though the case is beat up and scratched it powered up and after pairing it with a N4000A I picked up separately on eBay it worked just fine.
But one thing that kinda bugged me even though I can't remember the last time I setup a 10Base2/BNC network was the fact the BNC connector was broken off the motherboard and just kinda floating. I figured it was still attached via the ground or center post but the mounts just broke off and didn't pay that much attention to it after that.
Today as I was moving some parts from between the Turbo mono and my new Turbo color, I decided to take a closer look at the connector and what I found wasn't just a broken connector but a funny in a sad way "repair" of the connector.
My guess is someone just added the copper wire over the body of the connector to make it appear as if it wasn't broken or just make sure the hole wasn't open in the back of the case.
I removed the connector and thankfully there is no damage to the board or the pads.
Has anyone else run across a "repair" job like this with their machines?
The last one I had like that was easy to fix with a replacement connector from Digikey. They are super easy to break in shipping if the shipper does not pay special attention to packaging. I can tell you some horror stories about receiving Tektronix 2465 scopes :D
