I'm enjoying using my shell accounts with my NeXTstation Color, but I was wondering if there was an SSH package I could install instead of using telnet. Does anybody know?
I have the same question. I believe their are ssl packages available but I haven't had success compiling it on my machine.
Others use a Raspberry Pi as a translation layer from telnet to ssh. I haven't tried that yet.
Hi folks! Guess this should go in the NextStep forum but anyway...
Several SSH/SSL packages for NS 3.3 exist, though none seem to be in the nextcomputers.org SW archive...
I have packages for OpenSSH 3.6.1p2 and OpenSSL0.9.8za+zlib (for all architectures), and a gzipped tar file of OpenSSH4.7p1 which looks to include source and binaries, likely for m68k only.
I, unfortunately, did not seem to make a note of just where I found them. Perhaps I could send them along to y'all or ask Rob to place them in the archive.
I do see a really ancient version (1.2.26, for NIS) on the
https://ftp.nice.ch archive.
Other archives to poke around in:
www.nextcube.org/board/browse/3151 <-- login of 'me' & 'next' (as given in the login popup!)
nextftp.onionmixer.net/NeXT_FtpCollection
Enjoy!
I did find OpenSSL 0.9x here:
http://nextftp.onionmixer.net/NeXT_FtpCollection/ftp.cs.tu-berlin.de/NeXT/NEW_FILES/No luck with OpenSSH yet.
If you do have the zip files, I would certainly appreciate access to them if possible. Thanks!
Hello crimson: Send them on down the pike ... may be google drive or drop box them and email the link to bhi1@ix.netcom.com and I'll upload the via ftpp to the archives, it'll be nice addition. Best regards Rob Blessin
Tried to find a fairly modern ssh/openssl combination for my NeXTstation, so I can use the box for more tasks. Any help would be much appreciated.
I am running OpenStep 4.2.

@kb7sqi has a file archive stored here in the NeXTfiles section that has newer packages compiled quadfat. He has SSH 3.2.9.1, OpenSSH 3.6.1p2 and OpenSSL 0.9.8. I hope that helps.

Thanks, sadly the packages are from 2008 and the ciphers are not compatible with anything modern.
