SCSI2SD 5.2 - won't shutdown on NeXTCube, constant Superblock errors

Title: SCSI2SD 5.2 - won't shutdown on NeXTCube, constant Superblock errors

So, I finally got my SCSI2SD setup and working, but I've noticed an IMMEDIATE problem.  Even from a fresh image dd of OpenStep 4.2, attempting to shut the computer down seems to hang indefinitely on a blank screen, and the activity light on the SCSI2SD is constantly blinking very rapidly.  Keyboard input still works, and I can bring up the NMI monitor, so I can shut it down that way.  However, rebooting immediately causes a SCSI bus error (error 65, 'SCSI bus hung'), and while a fresh dd has no issues with the filesystem check on boot, all subsequent boots have errors when it checks the SCSI devices, particularly with incorrect superblock counts, which, if shutdowns and reboots continue, will lead to either the Workspace Manager failing to start correctly, or worse, trap errors on boot, with the occasional illegal CPU instruction occurring.

I have not yet recapped my system, though I have the parts, but I'm quite nervous about this behavior, and am wondering if anyone else has experienced similar issues.  In addition to the v5.2 SCSI2SD, my system has the upgraded PSU, contains both a working NeXT floppy drive and a working NeXTDimension board.  Please assist if possible.

That seems to be common behavior with the 5.2s?

I was given to understand that the v5.2 was supposed to be MORE compatible/stable with NeXT stuff, and at the time I purchased it, the v6 had serious stability issues on black hardware.
