I have followed the instructions to the letter and still no sign of life.  Can anyone tell me if I am missing something?

Can you show us the contents of the files /etc/hostconfig, /etc/hosts and /etc/resolv.conf and possibly a screenshot of the "Network" preferences of Previous?

Rob, I don't know when Andreas released it, but I put it on my site: http://previous.unixdude.net/download.html

Here is everything...

Previous network settings...

OpenStep settings...

I had done the changes under hosts, hostconfig, and resolv.conf as described in the howto included with 2.3.   I supposed that there was some sort of NAT provided by the app.

Anyway, any suggestions are welcome.

Yours, GC

That seems to be correct. Are there any network-related messages during the boot process or later (console or /private/adm/messages)? It might be something like "The network is disabled or your computer isn't connected to it".

Can you ping the router (ping 10.0.2.2)?

The boot process proceeds normally, I don't see any messages which says it can't get it's IP or anything like that.   I can ping the router, but nothing outside of that even with an ip address (which I would expect if it were just a resolv.conf issue.)

I'm bit stumped.  GC

I just tested networking with OPENSTEP 4.2 and Previous 2.3 and it seems to work for me. It is very hard to tell what might be wrong from the distance. Can you give me some details on your host system (hardware and software)?

Update: It might be helpful to see some debugging messages. If you start Previous from the command line (open Previous.app/Contents/MacOS/Previous) the messages will be printed to the terminal. Let Previous boot to the Workspace and then copy all messages and e-mail them to me.

Was just trying to set this up, so far no working ping or DNS lookup.
Need to recheck the HOWTO but i might post some config.
