So I have a Sound Box (N4004A if it makes a difference) that was in storage in un-conditioned space in Texas for a number of years. The feet have melted into something resembling tar.
What is the most suitable replacement for them? I am not sure what the originals may have looked like.
Also, any tips for cleaning off the old remaining goo?
thanks in advance!
Isopropyl alcohol should do the trick to remove the goo.
Thanks for the reply - I'll give that a shot first.
Any photos of the underside of a sound box in good condition anyone can share or point me to?
thanks!
I have the same problem with the feet on a PLI SuperFloppy drive. I measured the diameter of the feet at 10.5mm. I bought some online that turned out to be 9.5mm and were obviously too small so I've now ordered some 11m ones. I can't find any listed as being 10.5mm. I've seen some listed as being 10mm but not available, if anyone knows a good source of correct feet, I'd be grateful for a reference to their source.
Thanks for the photo! From that angle it looks like the same material as the feet on the slab itself? Weird that my slab's feet appear to be in perfect condition while the soundbox is dripping, sticky goo. I'll keep my eyes out for a decent looking replacement.
These rubber pads appear to be the same width and height as the originals, however they are 3/16" thick and the originals are about 1/16" thick. I have not tried these but thought I would mention them as something to consider for a replacement. They appear to have a good quality 3M adhesive tape.

do the feet have to come off to take the soundbox apart? i'm thinking yes, in which case I'll be ordering feet too, since i've ordered a new front to replace my scratched-to-shit one...

The front two feet need to be removed to access the faceplate mounting screws.
