I'm using ESXi 7.0U2, and my VMs are currently set to be ESX/ESXi 4.x VMs. Earlier I thought they weren't working because the consoles didn't work in the ESXi web UI, but the consoles work fine if I use the VMRC client. This is tested on NS 3.3, OS 4.2, and Rhapsody DR1/DR2.
Now I have one less dependency on my Intel-based iMac. Pretty soon I will be able to run any Apple Silicon desktop system.
It's not NeXT-related, but my Windows 10 VM is the only other dependency I truly have on the Intel chip in my iMac. I've tried migrating that to ESXi as well, and it just doesn't want to run there.
Finding that my keystroke results are wacky on 4.2 and DR2, mostly extra backquotes getting inserted.
Anybody seen this?
I see that when I'm using the web console, but when I VMRC the console works correctly.
Thanks, same for me too.
Nobody has seen a VMRC for macOS have they?

Thanks for this info, I am just doing the same but my NeXT is running in mono on VMware EXSi. Any tips?

I also had a hassle migrating my 98/XP/7/10 VMs. What did the trick was making sure to remove all devices and peripherals (USB, Sound Card, etc) before export, and then add them back after successful import. HTH
