Trying the Matrox driver written by Mirko Viviani and it causes a kernel panic on startup, which is odd, since I remember this was working before.
Specs:
• Pentium-III 800 MHz CPU
• 512 MB SDRAM
• ASUS P2B-DS Intel 440BX chipset motherboard
• Matrox G400 Max 32MB AGP graphics card
• Intel Pro/100+ 10/100 Mb Ethernet network card (PCI)
• Creative Labs Sound Blaster AWE64 Gold sound card (ISA)
• Adaptec AIC-7890 Ultra 2 SCSI controller integrated to the motherboard
• Iomega Jaz drive (SCSI - internal)
• Toshiba Samsung SH-S182M DVD-RW drive (IDE)
• StarTech 3.5" Drive Bay IDE to CompactFlash Adapter Card Reader
• GoTek Floppy disk drive emulator
• Magna ATX 500W PSU
• PS/2 compact keyboard and mouse
• DELL U2412M 24" TFT LED flat panel monitor
Any ideas what I can do to sort this? I'm using the 1.0 version of the driver from
http://www.mirkoviviani.com/drivers/Matrox.htmlI have also tried a Matrox G200 8MB AGP card, but the driver fails in the same way. I've tested the Matrox cards under other operating systems on this PC and they are functioning normally. If I install a GeForce 4 Ti card with the VESA VBE Driver into the PC, OS4.2 works.
Did you use the flags to specify memory size? Double-check PCI device IDs in configure.app?
Looks like and issue with the Jaz Drive image possible media corruption or read failure ?
The SCSI Jaz drive works correctly under OPENSTEP (mounts, writes and reads, tested with several cartridges) and there's no media in it at the time of this panic. Nevertheless, I'll try temporarily disabling the Adaptec SCSI driver to see if it helps.
I did specify VRAM size for the Matrox MGA driver and both of these Matrox cards used to work fine in this same PC previously. I wonder if it has to do with the sequence in which the startup sequence is attempting to load drivers.
Hello what resolution are you using on your dell, i have the mga400 32mb mily monitor does not allow 1920x1200 at 64 hz from the allowed mga driver possible list of resolutions my dell monitor which is the same as yours only does 60hz.?
Are you using 1600x1200?
Thanks and regards
My systems have no issue loading the Matrox driver.
