Better yet, I still have a box of New old Stock NeXTSTATION lids with new old stock front logo and now with these replacement corner logo's , it will make a nice station bundle :)
While great for those of use who do not care and just want to replace a scuffed up badge, I always wonder how many will view use of these as "counterfeit" in some way? As with all collecting this does bring up some ethical issues that will need to be addressed, especially with the crazy pricing NeXT hardware can sell for at times.
Just a thought for discussion.
Ship of Theseus.
If you go to the Goodwood revival and participate in the RAC TT race (That's the one with all the Ferrari 250's) you'll find that all the "Ferraris" are actually replicas. To be invited you have to actually own the real car, but all the owners race repilicas of their cars.
Further downmarket people make brand new water pumps for Jaguar E-Types, as well as things like new heads, body panels, etc.
Closer to home, we put in SCSI2SDs in our NeXTs. Are you not a "real" NeXT user because you don't use spinning rust? Use a different model HD.

OR replace your Ferrari water pump/block/body panels with new ones.

I think the car analogy is a good one. Very few people buy a car to -never- drive it. Replacing capacitors/drives/etc is necessary to play with nextstep as it was on original machines. Cosmetic enhancements allow you to proudly display it. I have gotten some angry emails over the years about butchering history or something. Eventually this stuff turns into dust, enjoy it while its here.
My concern was more about someone using these parts to pass of a system as "mint" and scamming people to pay a higher price. To use your car analogy it would be similar to someone trying to pass of a reproduction part as a NOS one.
Fair point. I suppose we're close to the point where the money attracts the scammers.
Hello: I have a fair amount of NeXT Station Cases in particular usually from University labs where the students removed the NeXT logo's and corner badges. I was told by former Professors at Rose Hulman that the students loved the NeXT's and they would then paste the logo's all over campus to promote NeXT due to a lack of marketing materials . So the replicated replacement corner badges are very much appreciated 30 years later, it is the best we can do. Now as for the purest collector , I'm here but it is very difficult to Fake NeXT Hardware so there are grey areas and who knows down the road , as 3d printing technology goes if it would be possible to do this. I found it interesting in one prior art case using good old NeXT hardware that 2 Turbo Cube motherboards in Cubes manifested in pristine condition . I looked at the Turbo Cube motherboards very closely and it looked like they may have been recently manufactured , I wish I had taken some photo's , as it kind of made me chuckle a bit like damn ; who ever did this would they be able to manufacture more or did they. This is now over 15 years ago, so I had plenty of legacy NeXT hardware to compare including Turbo Cube boards . So they may have actually been original , I recall the motherboard template itself seemed thinner and plenty of different style / color NeXT motherboards exist. Perhaps just very end of production run rather than mad science lol at any rate they ran NeXTSTEP 68K flawlessly and worked with Dimension boards. Mike P. worked at NeXT and said towards the end they were instructed by Steve Jobs to throw out a lot of the experimental stuff some was rescued but who really knows what all was lost . Best Regards Rob Blessin

Heh, as a former student at Rose-Hulman (CS 1996-2000) and one of the last folks to manage the NeXTs there on campus, can attest to lots of their computers missing logos. Though by the time I got there, I don't recall seeing those logos put up around campus or anything.
