I'm a lucky owner of a NeXT cube that I decided to reuse after few years of inactivity. I managed to boot it(!) but I tried to insert an optical disk and, that's the beginning of my problems. I get continuons messages on the console mentionning « od0? read failed ». At the ROM prompt trying to eject the disk has no effect at all.
If anyone can help!
I'm kind of amazed it ingested the cartridge at all. I assumed that failing capacitors put them all into a coma years ago. I'm assuming you have not yet had your drive serviced, right?
You'll need to manually eject the cartridge using an allen key through the hole on the front of the cube.
