Hello all,
I wonder if ROM Rev. 2.2 or 2.3 have ever been out in the wild. I would expect them either in an old monochrome NeXTstation or NeXTcube (68040, 25 MHz). If someone finds one of these I'd be highly interested to test them.
If you find one in your NeXT you can write it to a file using this command (might need command "su" for superuser privileges first):
dd if=/dev/mem of=rom.bin bs=512
Best wishes,
Andreas
I feel like I've seen a 2.2 before, but I don't think I've ever seen a 2.3. I think I recall the even numbers being a production release and the odds being development.
I'm pretty sure I've seen 2.2 as well, but never 2.3. I may have a ROM dump... I'll have a look.
I found a board with ROM v2.2 in it, but I do not appear to have a dump of it.

Interesting! What machine is it installed in?
I don't know if you've seen this or not but I noticed the following under section 5.24 of The NEXTSTEP/OpenStep FAQ:
QuoteOnly 68040 boards with ROM levels of 2.2 (v63) and higher can use the parity memory to detect parity errors.

It's in a slab motherboard... let me get some photos and a dump.
