Not sure if there was one before, couldn't find one. There's a similar thread on 68kMLA and I think it's pretty useful for reporting eBay sightings and questions related to those items. (Hope this is Ok, also if this would be better in the Lounge, feel free to move this admins).
Here's a cheap original floppy titled "CD-ROM Tools Release 3.0", anyone know what that includes (and is this already archived)?

I have that book. Is a really good book from back in the day.
FYI. I just put a few bits on eBay. Probably the most interesting to collectors is the boxed NeXTdimension:

Oh my goodness, that's amazing! I'll be watching this closely, although I won't be surprised if it quickly rises out of my price-range. Would it be impolite to ask what range of offers you'd consider? I don't have a sense of what a realistic price for one of these bare boards is these days, let alone one in the box like yours...
Huxley
I'd say fair market for a dimension without box and working is probably ~$1k at this point. Although I see an empty cube case just sold for $850 so honestly maybe don't listen to me ;D
I'm not really that interested in price... I listed it on eBay mostly so more people can see it. It needs to go to a good home.
I will be watching with interest. I have an unboxed Dimension board that I've been thinking of selling.
I am also eyballing that CDROM you have posted! :)

Hi again! I was excited to see how your NeXTdimension auction was going to play out (I've been the high bidder for a couple days), but I just got notified from eBay that the auction was cancelled. May I ask if you still plan to sell your set, or if you've decided to keep it?
In all honesty I kinda expected the next round of bids to exceed my maximum, but I do hope to someday add a Dimension to our Cube which we occasionally exhibit at our free / public "Retro Roadshow (
https://retroroadshow.org)" hands-on educational events (including a big one next month!).
Best,
Huxley
I got a reasonable offer from someone that seemed pretty keen on fleshing out their collection - so the board will be heading to Europe (along with some other bits).

one of the two even comes with a NeXTdimension™ built in!
The external SCSI device looks interesting. It seems to be a removable storage device - either floppy or optical. But it does not have any identifying markings.
I'd like to put a bid in but I don't even have room for my current NeXT collection.

probably a tape drive, most likely a hewlett-packard DAT.
Interesting non-turbo NeXTstation board (CPU). Maybe the mono turbo board mentioned in the hand written receipt was a working replacement for this board?

Hmmm, no bids.
I told him on FB 50-100 on a good day. It has so far not been a good day. :D
It was probably the original NeXT upgrade box for the mono turbo motherboard and they pulled the old mono board swapped in the monoturbo board and stored the original board in the box.
Too bad. I sold three nextcube motherboards a few years ago for $150 each.
FYI. I have some software up on eBay. A couple are still shrink-wrapped.
I've seen thus seller before, he always has a lot of really nice things for sale
This huge software listing has been up for some time now:

Hopefully someone here can grab these (and archive the disks, perhaps some interesting 3rd part apps there).
I couldn't help myself harvesting these license keys from the floppy labels on the eBay listing photos:

Hi everyone, I would like to point out this Italian auction of a NeXTstation that belonged to a former NeXT employee (this slab is not mine, just a report for anyone interested):

Very recent posting for an N1000 Cube (w/kb, mouse, monitor):
https://www.ebay.com/itm/156058976082Not my listing. From a well-reviewed seller in New York with an all-in cost around $3,700.
What was going on with that 'prototype' rear case panel?
I don't think that is a next prototype...
Hello NeXT Community: I have some NeXT cubes missing back panels and Chuck bought a few of them . He also sent me the photo type back panel that he had manufactured , I passed on it a few concerns we're no Fan which may cause over heating IMHO and the slot was not wide enough for the motherboard knock out to fit correctly. Also looked kind of tacky ..... and protruded I would have also choose different screws ,I'm not sure if it was 3d printed or a plastic mold but it could be modified it looks like and I guess it would be a temporary solution , the term prototype is kind of misleading.
Too rich for my blood ($9k) but there's a big NeXT bundle on eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/235436301425Turbo color workstation with accessories, a Cube, and software. Condition doesn't sound great, but perhaps in skilled hands it would be worth it.
Now this is probably a rare thing:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/326071413160 (
https://www.ebay.com/itm/326071413160)
Apparently made for NeXT computers but they gave absolutely no thought for exterior design to match the host machine :P
I suspect this product may have been for a variety of computers with a SCSI bus, but because it was mentioned in the NeXT FAQ (item 5.13) (
https://www.levenez.com/NeXTSTEP/faq.html), the seller has decided that the device was designed for NeXTs specifically. In fact the FAQ mentions several devices that do the same job, and I doubt the market for serial expansions for NeXT specifically was so big that there were multiple competitors going for it. More likely that vendors of devices like these aimed to support several different platforms.
A Google for ["uninet" "slat" "serial"] appears to confirm this --- one of the links is to a paywalled magazine archive with the blurb "Uninet SLAT Adds Serial and. Parallel Ports to DEC Vaxstation,. Sun, and Apple Macintosh. Computers. The Uninet SLAT provides additional. RS232C and Centronics ..." (OCR errors sic.)
But if you want to plug a bunch of serial terminals into your NeXT and you can find the software to support it, then this could be a good option!

Quote from: pTeK on December 06, 2024, 04:09:54 PMThat Cardboard box that contains the documentation is cool. I wonder who designed that. It really does give the impression of a high quality finished product.
This looks like the standard cardboard box a lot of my NeXT docs were delivered in. But it's definitely a nice design.

16MB required to use the App for NeXTSTEP 3.1 is a lot of RAM for the time. I guess maybe not so pricey in USA at the time as a lot of computer manufacturing was still happening then.
