Hey all,
I'm gauging folk's interest in putting together an "open source" Rhapsody/OpenStep, similar to how the Haiku project took shape.
It seems like there was a bit of a push to get the Darwin 0.1/0.3 code building a few years ago, but that seems to have fizzled out, not to mention some of the fundamental missing pieces for x86 use (mostly drivers and the core x86 bus drivers at that).
Very interested! :D
There seems to be interest... another thread on this as well. If we can get XNU up and running, the display postscript, we could probably get a fair chunk working.
I'm calling it Rhapsodi for now, and I have several Git repositories here -
https://github.com/orgs/RhapsodiOS/repositories to better break up the code, similar to how it's packaged on the WebObjects CD.
I'm doing another few build passes before I plop up an ISO with the completed Debian packages, but the majority of the build tree should build without trouble.
I'm currently compiling in an 86Box virtual machine. that's setup as a Pentium II, but I'd really like to give it a whirl on my G4 eventually as well as a normal QEMU virtual machine.
Hi pTek,
As far as I know, sarld get's plopped successfully into /usr/standalone/i386, at least according to the makefile under the sarld directory in boot_64.
Here's a screenshot of the finished deb under the /usr/standalone/i386 directory:
I don't think /boot is covered with the debs, but I could be wrong
