Unfortunately, that won't last very long, since the capacitors continue to leak. In the long run, recapping is inevitable (just working on a Classic II here).

This web page has good recapping guides for many 68k-era Macs (https://recapamac.com.au/macintosh-classic/).

I recently tried this with a non-working SE/30 and also a Quadra 840AV with mixed results.

The SE/30 is now mostly working again (after being shut of for longer periods of time it needs a couple of attempts to start up again, and the sound is barely audible), but the Quadra 840AV still doesn't work  :'(

Guess I need to find somebody who can help with recapping them.

Nice. I'd like to find a clean Classic or Classic II. If you get a chance post some pictures when you're done, I'd love to see it.
