MMP Version 3 - a player for MP3 and MIDI sound files also for the old 'black' m68k NeXT hardware. Runs in realtime on Turbo boxes and (22 kHz play) on 'normal' NeXTs (and full speed on Intel 486DX2 hardware). This version is fully 68040 assembler optimized. Now that the MP3 patent is expired back from the dead, can be downloaded here:http://www.wizards.de/~frank/download.html (

The file name "MMP_NISH_NS33.tar" leads to believe this was a fat binary, but it seems this is only 486 executable :(
He may be willing to release the source code now that the MP3 patents have expired. His contact information is at the bottom of the page. If that email address is too old he has contact information on his Pstill page.

Nice!!! I just downloaded this because I got a Toshiba Libretto 50CT and was able to get OPENSTEP on it, and get the Bible Readings I have done as .snd files and .mp3 files to be heard on it. I figured out the sound using the Yamaha driver.

That's cool that you were able to get things running. OPENSTEP for the win!
Frank wrote some great stuff! I love his packaged version of CAP (Columbia Appletalk Protocol) for NS - I use it for access to the storage on my old Macintosh servers on my network (since even those old PPC machines have much larger HDs than my NeXT boxes)...
