We should port this to NeXTSTEP and NeXT hardware ASAP ...
Take the ball and run with it.
latest release 5 2/19/24
I think this will solve a lot of the issues we are having
with communicating with modern protocols and
provide a roadmap to create custom WIFI device for NeXT ?
I think this was used for DoomED .... for example.

What is FujiNet?
FujiNet is a multi-peripheral emulator and WiFi network device for vintage computers. The first completed hardware was for Atari 8-Bit computers and development has begun for other systems with the goal of supporting as many as possible. What sets FujiNet apart from other WiFi devices is the new Network Device (the N device, or NDEV). The N device allows vintage computers that do not have enough processing power to handle TCP/IP connections talk to the modern internet over WiFi. Virtual adapters have been created for many protocols including: TCP, UDP, HTTP, FTP, TNFS, HTTPS (SSL/TLS), SSH, TELNET, WebDAV and JSON parser.

The FujiNet project is 100% completely open source, software and hardware. All code and hardware designs are available on our Github. Anyone is welcome to join us and add support for any system they want. We are more than willing to help where we can. The best way to get in touch with us is on our Discord server.

I have a Fujinet for my Atari 800, and it's a cool device, but I'm not sure what it would buy us for the NeXT. For the Atari, it emulates old peripherals that have no other modern equivalents (tape players, old Atari disk drives), and it gives the Atari network access through a built-in telnet client. I have used this to telnet to one of my home systems (
https://www.ataridude.net/posts/2021/Jun/14/telnetting-via-fujinet/).
We already have network access, and NFS, and telnet (and SSH). We can print to modern printers.
I mean, I love the idea of FujiNet, I just don't know what it buys us on a NeXT.

IMHO to get WiFi access for NeXT systems it would be better to try to create a NeXTStep/OpenStep driver for the emulated DaynaPort SCSI/Link devices that are available with either the RaSCSI/PiSCSI, BlueSCSIv2 or ZuluSCSI (see
https://github.com/ZuluSCSI/ZuluSCSI-firmware/pull/318).

As I say I just found Fujinet so not sure really what it is yet and your idea is excellent as WIFI support is what I'm looking for
.... it looks like Fujinet drivers ? nNow supports hot swapping floppy and iso images on sd pcbs aka Zulu, Blue and scsi2sd which would be nice to perhaps have a second dedicated sd capable of hot swapping cards with out a reboot :)
If what's needed is wifi for NeXT machines, why not get an ethernet to WiFI adaptor like this one (
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/293129733040)? They come up used on eBay from time to time. I have some old gizmos made by Netlink that are a bit smaller than the palm of my hand: these ones use a wall wart (a bit annoying) and they need to be configured by a more modern computer's web browser, but once set up, just plug them into the NeXT and you are online.
