Have you found that putting a MegaPixel CRT on top of a NeXTstation marks the top of the slab case? Or is it safe to do so?

I'm currently borrowing a slab and CRT, but as it's borrowed I haven't wanted to risk putting the one on top of the other.

But I've just ordered a slab and MegaPixel display (N4000A) of my own. I'd love to leave it set up on my desk to play with it, but to do so I'd need to put the CRT on top of the slab; otherwise there would not be space.

The built-in rubber feet are intact on my display; have you found that those are still sufficient to prevent marks on the slab to this day? If not, have you found something you can put on top of the slab to prevent markings?

One of the folks in my local computer meetup suggested combining rubber shelf liner (to prevent marks) with a piece of plywood (to evenly distribute weight).

It was designed to do it and we certainly did so back in the day. Never noticed that it left marks, but considering the age of these things now, not sure, but I tend to doubt it.

There original Monitors did not scratch the surface of the slabs. But as it is borrowed, I would like to suggest you put a scarf or carton board between slab and Monitor. Then you are on the safe side :)
